Verizon Senior DevOps Engineer in Lowell, Massachusetts

What you’ll be doing...

Join our Automation Engineering team where you will be responsible for all automation for developers across the business. You’ll be re-architecting the Jenkins, Artifactory and Sonar platform to migrate to AWS to allow it to continue to scale for adoption throughout the enterprise. We’re constantly developing industry-changing technology, and you’ll play a key role in keeping us on the cutting edge.

  • Expanding custom developed plugins and solutions for the Jenkins platform.

  • Creating and maintaining a Mongo database to store build failure analyses that can be reused in each OneJenkins instance.

  • Expanding the scope of the use of Artifactory, including its use as the directional location for Docker image storage that enables the Containerization effort.

  • Redesigning, architecting and developing Ansible platform for all AWS public cloud deployments (resource instantiation and code deployment).

  • Expanding the scope of the use of Sonar, including enabling it to be used in each developers IDE with SonarLint and support for static analyses of different languages (python, COBOL and PL/SQL).

  • Evangelizing DevOps and Cloud best practices with hundreds of application teams.

  • Creating easily reusable code examples and consumable documentation.

  • Redefining governance models around the automation tools that allow for their use throughout the enterprise.

  • Providing 24x7 production support to all tools within the automation platform.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience in CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQuebe).

  • Experience in cloud technologies such as architecting, developing or maintaining cloud solutions in public or private cloud environments (AWS).

  • AWS services experience (EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, EFS and CloudWatch).

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Technology or related field.

  • Experience using configuration management tools to build automation (Ansible).

  • Jenkins/ AWS Certification.

  • Experience with container and container orchestration (Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Apache Mesos).

  • Experience with Linux/Unix environment (bash scripting) and open source technologies.

  • Programming experience in one or more of the following: Java, Python, JavaScript, NodeJS.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple products across the organization.

  • Experience providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving DevOps related software and processes in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development methodologies and infrastructure.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
