We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Logistic Supervisor with our chemical plant located in Ludington, Michigan.
This position’s primary job function is to achieve plant performance requirements around HESS, customer satisfaction, and loading/production efficiency through day-to-day support and management of the Ludington site logistics area.
Essential Job Duties:
Coordinate with site supply chain and production personnel to communicate loading, packaging, and warehouse demand to help facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly personnel scheduling.
Responsible for the coordination of all area activities including loading, packaging, rail, site services, and warehouse activities. Ensures appropriate resources are allocated to perform tasks and activities.
Monitor daily loading, packaging, and SST activities and performance (Performance to Plan, Quality, etc).
Defines area maintenance work priorities and works with Operations Maintenance Coordinator to facilitate scheduling and timely completion.
Ensure mobile equipment resources (Track-mobiles & forklifts) are available to support the loading and packaging plans.
Communicate with Operations Maintenance Coordinator to define shutdown schedule and priorities.
Communicate with reliability team to identify priorities based on level of risk to plant objectives.
Ensures proper resources are in place for snow and ice removal during winter conditions.
Monitor the condition of the Calcium Chloride tank car and hopper car fleets and related equipment (track-mobiles, etc).
Plan and coordinate routine maintenance and improvement projects that support long and short range goals for the assets.
Use expertise to document guidance, best practices and procedures to help assure personnel are operating safely and within related guidelines and restrictions (Blue Flag Standard, HESP214).
Challenges plant personnel to identify performance gaps and make appropriate adjustments to achieve optimal performance.
Fill the roles of Project Manager, Manufacturing Representative, or Owners Representative as needed on site logistics projects as determined by the business.
Develop preliminary AFE’s to facilitate project prioritization and authorization.
Actively support plant and corporate HESS safety programs, objectives, and expectations.
High School diploma or completed GED.
Minimum 5 years of Logistics / Continuous manufacturing experience.
Strong understanding of plant and maintenance processes.
Must be able to communicate effectively with outside vendors and customers as well as various government agencies such as OSHA, EPA, LEPC, etc.
Must be able to respond to off hour emergencies.
High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and good working knowledge of SAP.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, write and speak in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, and stooping are required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Associates degree or greater in a business or technical area.
