What you’ll be doing...
Verizon is a Fortune 500 company and prides in servicing 99% of Fortune 500 companies as well as Government Agencies around the world. In Canberra, we run a key business unit - the Government Security Operations Centre (GSOC) that supports a number of Australian Government departments. We have hired 25+ staff this year due to expansion of services and new contracts and are urgently seeking to add another experienced Lead Network Security Engineer.
Our operations centre is focused around collaboration and success and you will be a part of a skilled operations team managing dynamic multi-tenanted and dedicated secure gateway environments. These environments utilise a range of technologies that are underpinned by a framework that ensures security, reliability and agility for our customers. Because of these extensive environments you will have the opportunity to work with a variety of technologies across multiple vendors including Cisco, VMware, Nutanix, Cloud Computing, Checkpoint, F5, McAfee, Juniper, Palo Alto, Splunk, BlueCoat and more.
You need to demonstrate that you can be a “technical lead” across a broad variety of network and security technologies. Ideally, you will work as a mentor and upskill the operations team to become more effective and efficient in servicing customer needs.
This role would be accountable for the delivery of new capabilities and major projects, working across teams to deliver an outcome for our customers. You will apply your technical expertise across our gateway and cloud environments to ensure its supportability and stability for a seamless customer experience.
Support the reliable service delivery of Verizon’s managed secure gateway services for Australian Federal Government customers.
Deliver high quality outcomes at a senior level including project tasks, complex incidents and requests as well as and performing proactive and reactive maintenance activities.
Provide input into the design and assisting in the delivery of major infrastructure projects including technology and hardware refreshes, new capability, and new services and on boarding of new customers.
Act as a point of escalation and mentor for Tier 1 and 2 engineers.
Work with stakeholders to ensure solutions are supportable and documented.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience with Web proxies - Netskope, BlueCoat.
Experience deploying capability to cloud services such as AWS, Azure and Microsoft 365
Experience in design, configuration and support of computer platforms including Dell, VMWARE, Nutanix.
Technical skills and experience with routing & switching – Juniper/ Cisco including data centre switching platforms.
Experienced in the administration of various Firewall platforms including Checkpoint, ASA, Palo Alto.
NV1 Security clearance.
Even better if you have:
Five or more years of practical technical experience, with a strong emphasis on the operation of a gateway environment.
AWS/Azure certification, and/or industry certifications such as GIAC, CISSP.
Experience with F5 LTM/GTM.
Experience with automation and orchestration technologies such as Puppet, Demisto, and Ansible.
Experience of a range of protocols including SMTP, HTTP/S, DNS, IPSEC/SSL VPN's, IPv6 & TCP/IP.
Ability to interact with technical and management staff to develop and problem solve technical requirements.
