What You’ll Get to Do:
Serve in the U.S. Central Command’s communication integration (CCCI) directorate as a public affairs specialist.
More About the Role:
Use public affairs and strategic communication expertise, knowledge of the CENTCOM area of responsibility, operational data and media research and analysis to prepare public affairs guidance (PAG) and respond to query (RTQ) documents
Collect, analyze and assess international and regional media in the Middle East and Central Asia, identify risks and opportunities, and make recommendations for media engagement
Maintain database of articles and talking points in OneNote.
Produce media read-ahead books for the CENTCOM commander and other key leaders
Track Twitter and other social media of influential people and organizations, and make recommendations for engagement.
Coordinate with Office of the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, Interagency, component staffs, and subordinate HQs counterparts to formulate initial courses of action and develop time-sensitive responses
Work independently and in small groups in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines
Develop electronic staff packages, information papers, briefings and other products as needed
When required, perform shift work representing the CCCI directorate as a rotating watchstander in the CENTCOM Joint Operations Center (JOC) 24/7/365
Based on news, current events, planned media actions, and operations in the CENTCOM AOR, compile briefing slides and brief CENTCOM leadership during senior-level meetings
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Five to seven years of professional experience in media engagement and public affairs
Fluency in written and spoken English
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Defense Information School (DINFOS) Public Affairs Officer Qualification Course (PAOQC)
Previous experience in a country or area in the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility - Middle East or Central Asia
Joint professional military education (JPME)
