POSITION SUMMARY: TheProgram Director ofHospital Based Physician Servicesis responsible for the maintenance of the daily operations and general management of the program(s) in a geographic region. To include leadership and general management of the operations, financial performance and budget to ensure the program(s) within the region meets its objectives. Works with and builds alignment with medical providers, staff and hospital administration across the region.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
The overall operational responsibility for the routine business and clinical functions of the employed hospitalists program(s) to ensure maximum utilization of resources and the efficient delivery of services of his or her assigned programs Participates in monthly administrative, quality, and financial data analysis and reporting.
Directs and manages projects for each program such as:
o Monitors patient flow through the programs to ensure appropriate utilization of physician time and staff coverage.
o Reviews charges and visit encounters for variations and patterns.
o Reviews hospitalist physician charge capture process.
o Identifies program/business development opportunities to increase the program(s)’ market share.
o Liaison for physician enrollment/payor credentialing process
Interacts on a monthly basis with each Hospitalist Program Medical Director and facility administration to ensure program(s) business needs are met and:
o Resolves any medical/administrative problems.
o Reviews monthly operating reports.
o Keeps lines of communication open between program staff and administration.
o Insures a high employee morale and a professional, effective, and efficient working atmosphere.
Assists in developing, implementing and monitoring annual program(s) budget(s) by:
o Analyzes financial impact of changes in clinical activities and forecasts actual revenue/expenditures versus approved budget.
o Recommends corrective action as required.
Meets monthly with hospitalist physician group to review financial performance and key program indicators.
Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.
Evaluates employee performance and provides appropriate guidance and feedback.
Ensures regulatory compliance.
Develops and oversees implementation and administration of internal program policies and procedures in conjunction with Physician Services standard policies and procedures. Interprets applicable laws, rules and regulations and ensures the program(s) are in compliance with them.
Develops and maintains effective communications between all levels of personnel.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in health or business administration is required, with an emphasis in Healthcare Administration preferred. Appropriate experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
Three to five years work and supervisory experience in practice management of multiple locations preferred (hospital based medicine preferred). Effective working knowledge of healthcare financial management, specifically medical practice accounting, third party reimbursement issues, patient flow and facilities management.
