Position Title Associate – Economic Development

AECOM’s Economics Team is looking for an experienced Associate to play a key role growing the business from our Manchester office. We are seeking experienced candidates with an interest in economics, economic development and regeneration who can win work, successfully manage projects, and deliver consultancy support to the highest levels of client satisfaction.
Key roles and responsibilities required of an Associate include:
Lead on multi-disciplinary projects, drawing on technical expertise from across AECOM;
Lead on work winning either by identifying and co-ordinating bids that successfully respond to client tenders or via proactive business development;
Undertake all aspects of consultancy project delivery from project design through to management, delivery and client care;
Proactive and client focused, understanding the needs of the project and offering high quality, professional advice;
Represent AECOM’s Economics Team at external events and internal business development initiatives.
Support the Regional Director in the day-to-day management of the Economics Team.
Delivery of Project Manager KPIs, including customer focus, project set up, communication & team management, risk management and quality, change control, commercial management, and safety health & environment;
Ownership of financial responsibilities with projects and assignments and expected to meet financial, marketing, and management goals; and
Line management responsibility for junior and graduate staff within the Economics Team.
A degree in geography, economics, business or a related discipline and an MSc/MBA/equivalent qualification in a similar field, or overall equivalent experience.
A track record in economic development with some specialised areas. This could include land use planning and property development, transport and infrastructure projects, business support, employment and skills or inward investment.
A track record in delivery of complex consultancy projects.
Experience of maintaining strong client relations in order to generate consultancy work.
Detailed analytic and numerical skills supported by spreadsheet and other software skills
A track record of contributing to innovative economic development solutions and working across complex local, regional and national stakeholder relationships.
A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills.
A team player who can work as part of wide project teams including other technical specialists.
Line management experience.
