Position Summary:

This

individual will be a member of OCI’s (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) engineering

organization operating a suite of massive scale, integrated cloud services in a

broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. The ideal candidate will

be highly autonomous, very detail oriented and possess strong written and

verbal communication skills. This individual should be proficient at operating

in a SaaS, Cloud or Hybrid cloud environment.

As

an engineer, this individual should have the ability to understand complex

problems and strike a good balance between business goals and technical

implementations. This is a collaborative, fast-paced environment requiring

strong communication and teamwork as well as the ability to adapt to shifting

priorities. On a given day this position offers opportunities to develop new

features, troubleshoot production, design and implement runtime monitoring,

testing, auditing or metrics gathering.

Major Duties:

  • Assistin the design, development and ongoing improvement of existing and newsystems and architecture

  • Productionruntime operations, monitoring and improvements of Integrated Services

  • Implementand support OCI services and systems, including tooling and automation

  • Performtroubleshooting and coordinate problem resolution activities withengineering and support teams

  • Establishand maintain productive relationships with peer service teams

  • ManageCIand CD tools within team and collaborate within larger automationorganization

Qualifications:

  • Demonstratedability to deliver the items listed in the major duties section.

  • Atleast 3 years of operations engineering experience in SaaS Cloud or HybridCloud Environments

  • Strongsense for API design. Experience with Swagger / OpenAPI

  • Atleast 3 years’ experience with Linux operating systems.

  • Experiencewith containers and supporting orchestration systems. Docker, Kubernetes

  • Experiencewith coding in Java, Python, and or Go.

  • Experiencewith configuration management systems, such as Chef, Ansible


  • Experiencewith cloud orchestration tools, such as Terraform

  • Strongcommitment to TDD (Test Driven Development)

  • Generalknowledge of the following categories of network systems: Multiprocessing,Threading, Distributed systems, Load Balancing and High Availability.

  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstratedability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and withingroups.

  • Shouldbe a flexible, resourceful, team player that is able to thrive in afast-paced, constantly changing environment.

  • Creativethinking and critical analysis are essential.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experienceimplementing cloud solutions

  • Experiencewith Database as a Service


  • Workedwith JIRA and Confluence

  • Knowledgeof Internet protocols and standards, including DNS, REST, TLS and HTTP

  • Knowledgeof DevOps

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will perform high-level design based on provided external specifications. Specify, design and implement minor changes to existing software architecture. Build highly complex enhancements and resolve complex bugs. Build and execute unit tests and unit plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering as necessary to discuss minor changes to product functionality and to ensure quality and consistency across specific products.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
