Monday through Friday Schedule
Reviews patient accounts and ensures their accuracy and completeness, determines appropriate billing/collections processes and processes statements, monitors outstanding accounts processes refunds for overpayments, receives and answers billing-related inquiries, and assists in the preparation of billing reports.
Essential Job Functions:
Prepares appropriate billing statements for self-pay, Medicare, Medicaid and/or third-party payers.
Monitors the status of outstanding accounts and identifies those past due accounts for follow-up action.
Submit claims to Medicare, Medicaid and/or third-party payers in a timely manner.
As required, processes refunds for overpaid accounts.
Receives and answers inquiries from patients, insurance companies, Medicare and other parties regarding changes and/or billing discrepancies.
Assists in the preparation of billing activity reports.
Reviews patient account documentation received from the branches for eligibility.
Identifies any missing information for new admissions and follows up with appropriate branch office personnel.
Files complete patient account files according to established procedures.
Collects patient admission and other related statistics for the Reimbursement Supervisor to assist in the compilation of billing activity reports.
Receives and reviews past due bills and follow up documents to determine the nature and extent of delinquency problems and any actions taken by patients or third-party payers. Confers with the Reimbursement Supervisor as needed to obtain additional information or clarification.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills:
3-5 years of billing/collections experience in Home Health or related industry (Hospice, Hospital, Physician, etc.)
3-5 years’ experience with Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance billing/collections.
High school diploma required college courses in accounting preferred.
Must have strong work ethics.
Well organized and a self-starter.
Ability to follow standard filing procedures.
Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable.
Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch.
Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
Interact with others in a professional manner.
Speak and write English.
Work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
Handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
