The Clinical Coordinator fosters and supports an environment that is corporative, cohesive and respectful as demonstrated by being an active unit team player while contributing to discussion and resolution of department needs and problems. Tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrates professional, ethical communication skills in the work environment including but not limited to interactions with patients, family members, co-workers, charge nurses, management, inter/intra disciplinary teams and physicians.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily agenda while being flexible when demands of the unit and clinician position change throughout the day. Demonstrates ability to multi-task.

  • Monitors morale and operational concerns of the staff on an ongoing basis. Gives verbal and/or written recommendations to the director as necessary.

  • Properly delegates, coordinates, supervises and evaluates charge nurses and nurses in the completion of daily operational procedures for their assigned units.

  • Produces environment conductive to the needs and growth of the staff in vision. Sets example in position, practice and competency of skills not only as a registered nurse, but as a member of the management team of the facility and department.

  • Monitors and evaluates the activities of the staff and provides management, coaching, guidance, delegation opportunities and on-the-job training and re-training as necessary to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to policies and procedures; fosters open communication by offering, encouraging and accepting suggestions from staff regarding department operations.

  • Organizes and plans education programs in accordance with staff development and administration philosophy, objectives and policies.

  • Coordinates in-services with education department for new equipment/products for staff.

  • Maintains responsibility for employee's knowledge and understanding of all hospital and departmental policy and procedures.

  • Completes tasks as delegated by the Director, and assumes managerial functions of unit in absence of Director.

  • Maintains department employee files, including new employee orientation checklists, equipment training checklist, mandatory in-service attendance confirmation and signed job descriptions.

  • Reviews schedules and requests from staff, makes scheduling changes as necessary and submits schedule to Director for approval.

  • Assists in daily staffing decisions with Director and hospital staffing coordinator.


  • Must have FL RN license

  • 2 year Associates degree reuired, 4 year Bachelors degree preferred

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in acute care/telemetry

  • 2-3 years in supervisory role preferred

  • ACLS and BLS issued by the AHA

  • Experience with Excel, Word, Kronos, Plus and Medi-buy preferred
