Senior DevOps Engineer
The Oracle Hospitality and Retail Global Business Unit is seeking a DevOps Engineer to work collaboratively with software engineering and operations to help automate and streamline our operations and processes for the deployment and operations our business applications. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our development, test and production environments.
Learning about and gathering new technologies and related tools to introduce to the company in order to grow the agile development environment
Learning how the Cloud services are offered and architected to determine how to optimize and automate deployments and adding new customers
Understanding what manual, repeatable tasks are routinely performed by the Operations teams and build code to automate them
Providing support during various operations such as deployment and general production
Collaborating with developers and operations to make sure new environments meet requirements and conform to best practices
Designing, implementing and testing agreed-upon infrastructure and code
Automating deployment of applications, system configurations, and security settings
10 years of proven experience in Cloud services
Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services
Strong experience with SQL
A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available Cloud service
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Engineering
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
