Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Event Service Manager to plan, coordinate and supervise all special event set-ups, operational support of events and post-event equipment breakdowns. Areas of responsibility include supervising, planning, organizing, quality control and reviewing the work of Special Events Utility Cleaners and Audio/Visual staff. Successful performance of the work requires the use of considerable independence, initiative and discretion with established guidelines, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinates the activities of the Special Events staff to best utilize manpower, materials and A/V equipment.

  • Ensures that special event equipment, supplies and materials are delivered in a timely manner as to not interrupt daily business.

  • Ensures special event areas are clean and presentable prior to events.

  • Represents AECOM – FRAME Contract by participating in meetings, committees and/or task teams with Client (i.e., Facilities Support) and other government organizations (e.g., OPA, Protocol, etc.).

  • Manages personnel within Special Events Group including hiring, disciplinary actions, training and evaluation of staff performance.

  • Ensures staff compliance with all company, contract specific and Client administrative, safety and security policies and procedures.

  • Oversees the work of subcontractor services.

  • Confers with Services Branch Manager regarding needed support and corrective actions for any and all operational or personnel issues.

  • Respond to customer questions and complaints to ensure positive resolution.

  • Assembles and submits accurate and timely reports as required and needed.

  • Maintain high Security standards in department at all times.

  • Reports any building deficiencies to BOC.

  • Ensure all time and attendance records are kept up to date.

  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

  • Inspect all equipment for proper operation and ensures all Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) is properly accounted for.

  • Effectively maintain a professional and supportive relationship with all other departments on the FRAME contract.

  • Willing to work any hours to ensure success of project or event.

  • Perform related duties as assigned and required.

  • This position will report to the Services Branch Manager.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years in the Custodial, Special Events and/or A/V arena. 2-3 years supervising a staff of 20-30 employees.

SECURITY: Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to plan, direct, motivate staff and execute work necessary for success while adapting to a demanding and changing environment.

  • Ability to work as a team player while working cohesively with all levels of Client, contract management and staff personnel to ensure contractual success.

  • Able to work independently, analyze situations, make decisions and set/meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Must know or willing to learn basic budgetary and administrative principles and practices.

  • Must communicate in an effective and professional manner.

  • Able to defuse conflicts among subordinate employees and peers.

  • Must respond to emergencies during off-hours if necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in Custodial, Special Events, or A/V fields is desirable.
