The GPS EC supports the client engagement team(s) throughout the full project lifecycle, from the pursuit phase through project closeout, by assisting with the initiating and controlling organizational aspects of projects while using leading-edge project and client management software to keep projects on track and on cost. Their greatest value is in the understanding and application of engagement business and financial processes both to individual engagements and to client accounts.
Work You ll Do
As a Summer Scholar in our GPS EC practice, you'll team and collaborate with Deloitte project managers in maintaining compliance with clients policies, perform internal financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost variance analysis in addition to managing projects billing and receivables process. You'll also monitor project performance and determine improvement areas by analyzing key performance indicators. On any given assignment, you may help to improve internal processes and directly communicate strategies and analytical results with your GPS EC team to help keep projects on track and within the scope of cost. Your summer will conclude with a presentation outlining your networking and client service experience in front of a panel of GPS EC Senior Leadership.
Our GPS EC practice helps clients define what they need and how it can be delivered. Using advanced financial, budgeting, and forecasting techniques we provide realistic cost estimates that account for projects phases, people, materials, hardware, and software. We produce the best- and worst-case estimates using leading-edge project and client management software to keep clients projects on track and on cost. We manage risk by performing financial analysis and reconciliations to keep project variances in check. You will work in a team composed of management, both senior and junior staff along with team members in India. This team dynamic provides unique perspectives that will enable you to grow as a financial advisor and gain a well-rounded insight into the GPS EC practice.
Pursing a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Management or related area (junior standing)
Strong academic track record (minimum GPA of 3.2)
Rising college Senior or academic equivalent
Availability to work full time during the course of 10 weeks (June to August 2019)
Solid understanding of finance principles and interest in project management
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Strong oral and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills
Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team
Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to "think outside the box" while identifying problems and developing creative solutions
Willingness to travel
