Job Description

The objective of the Deloitte LLP Ethics and Compliance Group is to support Deloitte LLP s shared values and Global Principles of Business Conduct by centrally coordinating and enhancing ethics and compliance practices with a primary goal of protecting, preserving and enhancing Deloitte s reputation.

The mission of our Anti-Corruption Compliance Group (ACCG) is to establish policies, processes, and controls to support the Deloitte U.S. Firms compliance with applicable anti-corruption laws and regulations, e.g., the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), as well as compliance with other U.S. laws and regulations, including U.S. economic sanctions and export controls. The scope of the ACCG s activities includes the U.S. as well as other locations/practices in which the U.S. Firms have certain involvement or operations, for example in India (USI).

This opportunity is for an individual interested in joining a growing team dedicated to expanding the Deloitte U.S. Firms Trade Compliance Program (Trade Compliance Program). The Sr. Analyst s primary focus will be on working with the team on client-engagement and internal development consultations. In addition, the role will include assisting in implementing and managing key program elements for the Trade Compliance Program. As the Trade Compliance Program evolves, future opportunities may include supporting other compliance and risk management areas (e.g., economic sanctions, anti-corruption and bribery, and political activity compliance).

Although described in more detail in the Responsibilities section below, at a high-level, primary responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and perform day to day activities related to the implementation and management of the export controls compliance program.

  • Assist in responding to client and engagement team requests for information regarding the Trade Compliance Program

Responsibilities

  • Gain comprehensive understanding of Deloitte LLP s anti-corruption, sanctions, and export control compliance policies and guidelines.

  • Develop a working knowledge and proficiency in various compliance processes and monitoring functions, which may have overlap with Trade Compliance Program activities.

  • Interact with Partners, Principals and Managing Directors (PPMDs) and engagement teams to analyze contracts and potential client service opportunities for risks related to ITAR, EAR, and sanctions.

  • Assist engagement teams in developing relevant controls to comply with regulations, including, where applicable, a technology control plan.

  • Consult and work closely with Deloitte s Office of General Counsel (OGC) on matters relating to the Trade Compliance Program, including on any escalated investigations, risk assessments, policy drafting, and training.

  • Prepare or maintain guidance and tools for the Deloitte U.S. Firms to utilize during the client acceptance process for considering trade compliance risk.

  • Manage and update relevant training on applicable regulations (ITAR, EAR, sanctions, and other applicable trade compliance regulations).

  • Assist leadership in identifying and mitigating compliance risks, enhancing and implementing compliance monitoring efforts and fostering a compliance culture; where appropriate, propose process improvements and enhancements.

  • Participate in the performance of and/or review of jurisdiction and classification analyses for Deloitte products or software or in support of client engagement teams.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of ITAR, Nuclear Regulations, EAR and Office of Foreign Assets Control.

  • Ability to quickly establish credibility with engagement teams and build positive working relationships.

  • Ability to formulate views and opinions quickly and ask relevant questions to gather necessary information to make a decision/recommendation.

  • Aptitude to convey complex regulatory matters to build awareness, develop professionals capacity to identify issues, and enhance acceptance and understanding by client service professionals.

  • Exceptional and articulate presentation, writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a remote team environment, contributing positively to team operations and working relationships, while also thriving when performing autonomously.

  • Confidence to work remotely and with little oversight.

  • Possess high integrity and focus on delivering quality work

  • Ability to maintain a risk mindset to apply strategic thinking on one project and detailed review on another order to efficiently and appropriately manage risk.

  • Some periodic travel required to meet with team members or deliver training, when necessary.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years relevant export controls experience

  • Preference for Juris Doctorate JD 1
