Within WFAM, the Insurance Distribution Practice delivers holistic advice, thought leadership, consultative selling and ongoing service to the various insurance segments including Life, Property & Casualty, Health, Reinsurance, and Corporate Captives. This high performing practice brings depth and breadth of knowledge within the Insurance segment to appropriately identify and deliver asset management capabilities to address the specific needs of insurance general account assets. The insurance practice area partners closely with the multi asset class solutions team and portfolio management teams within WFAM to deliver integrated solutions that effectively balances return, yield, and regulatory capital requirements.

We are currently seeking a Head of Insurance Distribution to manage a team of highly qualified professionals across business development and relationship management to grow our insurance asset management business in the US. As a player/coach, this highly visible leadership position will demonstrate deep knowledge of the insurance industry and be able to effectively leverage the full set of capabilities within Wells Fargo to drive overall business growth. WFAM believes that the investment platform and capabilities are well suited to meet the needs of the insurance industry and is seeking to hire a highly motivated leader to help realize that belief.

*Specific Duties:*

The Head of Insurance Distribution will be critical to the future success of the practice through the leadership of a team of seasoned distribution professionals within the insurance sector. Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Developing strategy and executing on a targeted business plan to grow net revenue across the insurance segments

  • Assessing and recruiting talent to enhance client relationships and business growth, ensuring talent is best aligned to maximizing net new revenue opportunities

  • Work directly with high value clients to understand needs, deepen long term relationships and grow net new revenue

  • Promote the insurance practice across Wells Fargo, leveraging the capabilities of the broad franchise

  • Collaborate with internal partners to develop an insurance product roadmap to ensure WFAM continues to meet insurance client demand

  • Build an external awareness of the asset management capabilities and brand for the insurance segment through public speaking, media, and execution of an overall marketing strategy

  • Coach and develop talent to grow and advance in their careers

Compensation is structured as a combination of base salary, bonus incentive and commissions.

The team member can reside in one of Wells Fargo Asset Management’s home offices - San Francisco, Charlotte, Menomonee Falls, Boston, Los Angeles, or New York

As a Team Member Manager, you are expected to achieve success by leading yourself, your team, and the business. Specifically you will:

  • Lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them.

  • Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of investment sales experience; including 5+ years of with large market accounts

Desired Qualifications:

  • FINRA registration including Series 24 (or FINRA recognized equivalents)

  • FINRA registration including Series 7 and 63 (or FINRA recognized equivalents)

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

  • An active Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation

  • Ability to create and deliver dynamic presentations

  • Experience delivering results in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

  • Strong sales skills

  • Extensive knowledge of the asset management industry, trends, as well as products and solutions

  • Experience in managing and leading a team

  • Registration for FINRA Series 24 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Registration for FINRA Series 7 or 63 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.

  • Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position. In addition state registration, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply. Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards. Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA review process at the time of offer acceptance.
