As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

This individual will be a senior member of the Engineering organization supporting Oracle Cloud Infrastructure monitoring. Primarily focused on providing operational support for the Infrastructure monitoring team, this individual will provide support to multiple teams, helping to drive our operational excellence by understanding new products as they are developed, working with the engineering team to implement monitoring of services, playbooks to resolve issues and driving hand-off to our best-in-class Network Operations center.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess a wide range of skills and experience. This individual should have the ability to understand operational requirements and be able to support the engineering teams through new product launch and support hand-off. This individual is expected to provide on-call support for our product line. This individual will also be fairly autonomous and be expected to contribute to a range of high-impact projects across the organization.

Major Duties:

• Support Oracle Dyn Monitoring, Backend APIs and various integration points.

• Evaluate various monitoring and alerting implementations to determine compliance with operational compliance.

• Perform troubleshooting and coordinate problem resolution activities with engineering and support teams

• Establish and maintain productive relationships with peer organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 3 year s experience with Linux operating systems

• At least 5 years experience in operational support

• Experience coding in Java and Python

• Familiarity with cloud architectures, distributed systems, and high availability

• Familiarity with relational DBs and SQL

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and within groups

• Should be a flexible, resourceful, team player that is able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment

Nice to Have:

• Experience implementing cloud solutions

• Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker

• Automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible

• Knowledge of Internet protocols and standards, including DNS, ReST, SSL and HTTP

• Experience with real time stream processing
