Thermo Fisher Scientific Project Manager, Engineering in Millersburg, Pennsylvania

BioProduction provides our biotechnology and biopharmaceutical customers with integrated ​​solutions across the entire bioproduction workflow. This position will reside in the Engineering Operations department and will manage internal projects involving Manufacturing Equipment for Single Use Technology (SUT).

How will you make an impact?

The Bioproduction division is seeking a talented Project Manager/Engineer who will be the primary internal contact managing the overall schedules and ensuring projects and maintenance activities are delivered on time, on budget, and meeting or exceeding internal customer expectations.

What will you do?

  • Create project schedules / Gantt charts and defining project milestones for standard and customized equipment projects in life sciences industry

  • Drive engineering projects to completion

  • Lead and drive the planned maintenance activities using Maximo

  • Lead design reviews with engineering, operations and suppliers

  • Manage change requests throughout project cycle with Change Control Board and customers

  • Identify, managing and mitigating project risks and issues

  • Schedule, facilitate, and report weekly project meetings with internal stakeholders, cross-site customers and suppliers

  • Collaborate with 3rd party suppliers to meet project milestones and deliverables

  • Manage multiple, fast track projects simultaneously for the Millersburg site

  • At times, generate new tooling designs and iterate through development from concept to production.

  • Customization to existing equipment and/or tooling

  • Produce CAD solid models and conduct engineering analysis of components/ systems

  • Responsible for materials and component selection, specification, testing, and analysis

  • Generation of specifications and documentation

How will you get here?

Education

  • BS/ MS degree in Science or Engineering related fields

Experience

  • 3-5 years of Project Management experience leading projects of varied scale and complexity

  • Managing System Integration and/or Validation projects

  • Experience working in a fast paced manufacturing industry

  • Experience with Maximo enterprise asset management system

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • PMP certification or equivalent is desired

  • Ability to query data from Maximo, manage preventive maintenance activities

  • Ability to be a leader and make decisions with authority

  • Ability to prioritize activities and follow through to completion

  • Requires Maximo enterprise asset management system experience

  • Requires excellent organization and communication skills

  • Experience with Solidworks and PDM will help

  • Experience with Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban project/work methodologies will help
