Merck Lead Quality Control Lab Technician in Millsboro, Delaware

Job Description

Our Company Animal Health, Millsboro, DE is a Biotechnology Center of Excellence that manufactures, fills, packages and distributes vaccines for animals. Our site is responsible for mammalian, insect and avian cell culture production, live bird vaccine production, embryonated egg vaccine production, roller bottle vaccine production, bioreactor vaccine production and down-stream processing (water in oil emulsions, aseptic filling, lyophilization, etc.)

The QC Associate Specialist is responsible for testing of vaccines. The role also requires collaborating with Regulatory, Manufacturing, Analytical Tech Support (ATS), Bioprocess Tech Support (BTS) and R&D partners, as appropriate. Bench level activities as determined. A QC Specialist must possess thorough knowledge of the underlying principles used in testing procedures and understand the material being evaluated, i.e. virus, bacteria, cell line, etc.

Some of the duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates, at all times, safe work habits and maintains a safe work environment.

  • Understands and complies with all regulatory, safety and company policies and procedures.

  • Perform investigations regarding testing methods and results.

  • Insure all corrective and preventive actions are tracked and completed on time.

  • Possess the ability to evaluate new procedures.

  • Maintain accurate and reliable record keeping including charts, log books, and all pertinent documentation

  • Communicate any unusual and/or non-routine occurrences when performing tasks

  • Write clear concise standard operating procedures

  • Perform document review of testing records

  • Training Technicians on testing procedures

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • High School diploma/GED with minimum of 6 years of laboratory or related vaccine production experience OR Associates degree in biological life sciences field with a minimum of 4 years laboratory or related vaccine production experience OR Bachelor’s degree in biological life sciences field with a minimum of 3 years laboratory or related vaccine production experience
