Wells Fargo has an opportunity for an Intellectual Property Paralegal to work in our growing intellectual property team in the Legal Department. This position will provide paraprofessional legal support for one or more intellectual property attorneys and external counsel retained to represent Wells Fargo. The candidate will handle a range of duties supporting branding, trademarks, marketing and advertising, and related intellectual property matters. The position requires excellent organizational, problem solving and priority setting skills. The position requires reviewing and acting upon materials received from external counsel and the USPTO, preparing draft materials for attorney review and/or completion and maintaining attorney dockets, an intellectual property database (database entry, data integrity) and hardcopy files.

The successful candidate will be adept at balancing multiple and competing priorities and meeting frequent deadlines with regular interruptions while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to work with and appropriately protect sensitive, proprietary and confidential information; and the ability to work in a team environment while exercising independent judgment and interact effectively with peers and all levels of management are necessary. This job works under attorney supervision but with a high degree of independence to provide paralegal and administrative support of a responsible and confidential nature and helps ensure the smooth functioning of legal matters and projects.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist attorneys in managing U.S. and foreign trademark portfolios, including clearance, prosecution and maintenance

  • Review incoming and outgoing correspondence and maintain docketing system in accordance with processes outlined by the intellectual property legal team

  • Generate status and other reports from the docketing system

  • Assist attorneys in legal issues related to marketing, advertising, digital and social media matters

  • Correspond regularly with external legal partners and internal business partners

  • Assist with other projects and workflows as needed, including brand permissions, marketing clearance and team operations

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of paralegal experience

  • Ability to consult, build, and maintain solid working relationships in and outside of immediate department

  • Paralegal certification may be required in some states
