IBM Program Director, Product Marketing in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Your Role and Responsibilities

Preferred Locations: Austin TX / Raleigh NC / NYC

As a Product Marketing Program Director, you will be the Product Marketing leader for the AI Applications business unit. In specific, you will be a thought leader who influences functional strategy in articulating IBM’s point of view and value proposition for the business unit and audiences we serve, in order to grow our market share. You will direct all activities associated with Product Marketing responsibilities, leading teams on analyzing key problems, competitors, and differentiators grounded in data. As a Program Director, you will be recognized as an expert within the Product Marketing discipline, with great expertise in identifying opportunities, distinctive competencies, and positioning. You will direct development of programs that create the strategy around positioning and messaging as a compelling storyteller, biasing analysts and customers towards IBM’s offerings. Additionally, you will lead the gathering of requirements by enabling your team to gain internal support across all channels and drive demand into the sales pipeline. You will anticipate potential problems in driving the most complex solutions. Moreover, you will be active in all areas while assuming additional responsibilities on your team and with clients- at events, in the field, and online.

In the role of a Product Marketing Program Director, you will exhibit worldwide leadership by providing executive management with input for the development of corporate policies and practices affecting the marketing organization. You will provide expert advice and counsel to management on the intent and strategic direction of the overall marketing plan (product messaging, positioning, defining the target persona, and developing the narrative for demand generation campaigns). You will participate with executive management in the development of the worldwide mission and vision for the given business unit. This role works across all areas- product management, sales enablement, channel, external strategic partners and direct sales organizations to orchestrate the go-to-market plan. As a Program Director, you must provide directions to all functions worldwide through excellent initiative, superior leadership, collaboration, and mastery of the marketing and B2B industry as a whole.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Project owner of plans and programs that represent the voice of the customer, leads teams in advocating a point of view that serves their needs and differentiates our offerings.

  • Leads all activities that involve quantifying and segmenting the market opportunity based on patterns of unmet needs, understanding how we compare versus the competition.

  • Manages team conducting all activities related to understanding the personas (buyer, influencer, user) of a buying cohort.

  • Leads and coordinates delegation in multi-functional teams in articulating IBM's point of view, marrying the unmet needs of the target segment with a differentiated solution, and describe how solution attributes deliver desired outcomes.

  • Defines priorities and resources to activate Product Marketing Managers in bringing the point of view to life with meaningful campaigns.

  • Accountable for the results of outcomes, demonstrating leadership throughout all projects

  • Drives marketing strategy of multiple business areas by anticipating problem areas and methods to solve them.
