AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer at our NASA Ames Research Center location in Moffett Field CA. Our NASA Ames Research Center office focuses primarily on highly specialized mechanical, electrical and structural infrastructure engineering for large wind tunnels, thermal testing facilities and substations. We are looking for a person who wants to apply their passion and enthusiam for design in a collaborative andd progessive work environment.
The responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to those listed below:
Performs a variety of tasks in support of the engineering staff.
Activities may include assisting with engineering calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and engineering installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining project documentation.
General understanding of procedures, company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Viewed as competent in all areas. Highest non-supervisory position
- May oversee work of junior-level technicians. Viewed as competent in all areas.
- Perform electrical system design using switchgear, swithchboards, moto control centers, variable frequency drives, generators, transformers, distribution panels and various raceway systems
- Project management of multiple concurrent projects including resource management, schedule delivery, quality and financial performance
BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
CA Professional Enginner Registration
Working knowledge of AutoCAD
Working knowledge of common building engineering codes and standards such as the NEC, NFPA, IESNA, IEEE, IAEI and NETA
Understanding of electrical power requirements for HVAC systems and interface with utlities
Understanding of electrical power controls and ladder logic
Knowledgeable about electrical system studies and calculations (load, voltage drop, short circuit, coordination and arc flash)
Communicate effectively verbally and through the use of Word Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
Flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines
Ability to travel for work to other sites
US Citizenship required
Knowledge of protective relay design principles and practices for electro-mechanical, solid-state and microprocessor-based (SEL)
Ability to perform filed investigation work near energized electrical equipment form 50V to 115KV; ability to climb ladders and work at elevated locations such as roof tops; ability to work in confined spaces
Knowledge of medium (15kV) and high voltage substation (115kV) layout and controls
Working knowledge of SKM Systems Analysis Software for load flow, fault, coordination and arc flash studies
Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit
