Primary Role

If you are a great multi-tasker who loves being a part of a dynamic team, being an Administrative Assistant with California American Water may be the perfect fit. This is a part time position where the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for performing standard and some advanced secretarial and administrative duties.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist the Director of Operations with various tasks as required such as travel arrangements, meeting scheduling, proofing/formatting letters, and tracking of priority tasks.

  • Assists with various department wide administrative or clerical details as required such as mail sorting and tracking of invoices.

  • Screens mail and telephone calls providing information in accordance with Company Policy.

  • Provides back up support to senior level executive assistants and operations specialists.

  • Assists with meeting arrangements such as preparing agenda, taking meeting minutes, and meeting room arrangements.

  • Work closely with building property manager to resolve any building or parking lot related issues.

  • Order office supplies/janitorial.

  • Assist security with ordering of ID Badges and cyber keys.

  • Proof all material for accuracy and context.

  • Establishes and maintains files and records.


*Knowledge: *

Knowledge of advanced secretarial protocol and procedures, grammar, spelling and punctuation, company policies, and operating procedures, especially within applicable functional area.

  • Skills:*

Must have knowledge strong written and communication skills. Experience managing scheduling of meetings and tasks. High performer with proactive positive attitude. Proficient with word and excel with ability to quickly learn new computer software programs such as SAP.


  • High School Diploma required.

  • Associate Degree desirable.

  • CPS designation desirable.

  • Secretarial experience preferred; including proven experience and skills in dealing directly with public.
