BMO Financial Group Procurement Analyst in Montreal, Canada

Description:

Temporary Full-time Position (ending September 2020)

Lead hand primarily responsible to coordinate and control the day to day Bank's Fixed Asset operations and financial integrity assisting and supporting junior staff as required. Perform complex inquiry/investigation and control capital project exception handling. Measure production capacity, set processing priority and provide status recommendation to the Team Leader. Second in command, assist the team leader as required.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Coordinate and control the day to day Fixed Asset operations.

Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly balancing and reconciliation on over 100 Capital Asset accounts. Ensure integrity between Capital Asset system, HOGL. Investigate discrepancies/out of balance conditions and apply corrective actions accordingly or search coaching from the Team Leader for complex issues. Detect unexpected accounting activity in GL balance and advise units accordingly.

Closely monitor and control workflow for capitalization exception, capital value in hold and maintenance request. Review exception files on a regular basis to ensure projects capitalization and or depreciation expense timely commence as advise by Accounting Policy Advisory. Assess value on hold, determine solutions and perform complex asset maintenance transactions.

Perform the FA closing activities related to accounting period, initiate files for transfer to HGL.

Assume a pro-active role in customer-generated inquiries on assets, perform it and communicate finding or resolution. Prepare documentation in order to support internal and external audit/government request and tax statutory reporting.

Is responsible for troubleshooting any problems related to Fixed Assets. Testing system functionality, processes and procedure with recommendation to the Team Leader for implementation concurrence. Proactively identify potential process improvements or weaknesses and advise or provide recommendations to Team Leader.

Provide administrative assistance to the Team Leader and assume responsibility in his/her absence. Compile, analyze statistics and ensure productivity consistency. Participate in local projects and support the implementation of initiatives. Keep abreast of products, services and policy changes.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • University diploma in Accounting/Finance with one year work experience or,

  • Specialized college degree with 2 years work experience in accounting/finance or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of Bank accounting capitalization policies and system is an asset.

  • Very good understanding of the usage and process of GL under control/management's

  • Autonomous, reliable, detail oriented, well organized and accurate. Work with minimum supervision.

  • Very good at trouble shooting operational issue.

  • Good communication & interpersonal skill.

  • Bilingual: French/English (written and verbal)

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage multi-tasks simultaneously.

  • PC skills (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes). Able to navigate the Internet and Intranet.

  • Very good knowledge of capital products, policies, procedures and systems.

  • Good working knowledge of Bank commodity tax accounting for capital asset.

  • Ability to lead, coach

  • Must be able to interact and work effectively with people, sometimes under difficult and stressful situations
