About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Utilities, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU]

The preferred location for this position is Greensburg, PA, Reading PA, Morristown NJ, or Akron OH, but any FE location may be considered.

This position is responsible for supporting the Transmission Capital portfolio ($1B + per year) with detailed financial forecasting of the current year and the five-year Transmission portfolio at the project level. The monthly forecasting cycle includes working with the Transmission Project managers to ensure the project forecasts are entered correctly into the Forecasting systems and UIPlanner, ensuring that project accruals are correctly calculated and submitted to Corporate Finance, and projects are in-serviced in a timely manner. Analysts will work closely with Transmission Project Managers in preparation of 2 monthly meetings, the Financial Review and Accrual Review. The forecast is managed in both the Direct view and the Settled View.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyzing expenditures and recommending budget adjustments. Performing estimate to project actuals analysis.

  • Participating in planning, prioritizing, tracking and reporting major projects using the SAP Work Management System (CO).

  • Providing analytical support to the portfolio development and financial group.

  • Providing variance analysis and explanations for projects.

  • Preparing journal entries for monthly accruals and any correcting entries as required.

  • Developing, tracking and managing the forecast in-servicing plan.

  • Developing and maintaining new analysis and reporting tools as needed to support the Project Management Team.

  • Understanding the CIAC/SD billing process.

  • Calculating and recording the appropriate CIAC properly against the projects as required.

  • Providing project cost analysis to FERC interconnection group upon reconciliation of project costs.

  • Utilizing and becoming proficient in SAP, CREWS, RPA, UIPlanner, and Powerplant.

  • Meeting customer needs by providing sound service and responsiveness.

  • Building strong relationships and credibility across the organization.

  • Supporting storm activities as needed.

An employee hired at the Staff level will be expected to perform all of the above responsibilities with more proficiency, and in a more independent manner. Further, the Staff level employee will be assigned additional responsibilities related to those above, including:

  • Perform assigned job duties with little or no supervision.

  • Drive process improvement.

  • Back up Forecasting supervisor on an as needed basis.

  • Assist in the training efforts with new team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline is required. Advanced degree a plus.

  • Minimum 10 years related experience.

  • In lieu of a degree, 13 years of direct, related experience will be considered. The experience must be at a professional (exempt) level which also includes data reporting, analysis, costing and recommendations, along with a thorough understanding of the subject matter.

  • High Proficiency in SAP, CREWS, RPA, UIPlanner, and Powerplant.

  • Strong teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent analytical abilities involving complex problems; exercise sound judgment.

  • Highly Proficient in Excel, Powerpoint, Word, SAP, CREWS, RPA, UIPlanner, and Powerplant.

  • Widely recognized Subject Matter expert, team leader, and “go-to” person.

  • Works safely according to company policies and procedures.

  • Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills.

  • Travel may be required at times across the FirstEnergy system.

Qualifications at the Staff level include all the above plus:

  • Four year degree in a related discipline, with a minimum 13 - 15 years professional (exempt) work experience is preferred.
