Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide outside-in thought leadership and direction in shaping the data, digital and analytic capabilities and delivery strategy.

  • Proactively stays abreast of developments and trends to advance digital transformation efforts, understand the intersection of technology and business needs relevant to the company and to drive business innovation through data and analytics. The role will be responsible for ensuring our Data Products are creating business outcomes and intended value. Drives the development and adoption of data/analytic assets and products across the company to create deeper data foundational capabilities that accelerate the business to achieve richer data driven insights.

  • Establishes strategic alignment and strong partnerships with the business, technology and functional divisions to identify needs, drives impact and ensures teams are full leveraging Travelers’ data assets.

  • Oversee the development and adoption of enterprise Data Governance Program, to include standards, practices, quality, advocacy and operationalization.

  • Define and implement Data Quality framework for Travelers – ensure measurements and adoption of the framework for our key data assets

  • Responsible / Accountable for implementation and adoption of Enterprise Data Catalog and associated meta-data standards

  • Define, manage and drive adoption of Travelers Master Data Assets.

  • Define delivery of Enterprise Data Products and related services (API’s).

  • Drive strategy for self service and business intelligence tools and support.

  • Leads Enterprise Data/Master Data Management, Information Delivery, Geospatial value stream teams.

  • Accountable for building a culture of data literacy that is cross functional. Tailored to specific skill sets, and illustrative of a people-first leadership style.

  • Works in strong partnership with Enterprise Operations, Digital Enablement, Customer Experience, Marketing and business segments Data Leaders to integrate and evolve the Customer-Centric Digital Insurer & Data/Analytic strategic data roadmaps with strong focus on evolving analytic and data assets to enable value driven outcomes/insights.

Job Summary:

As a leader of Data & Analytics, you will have a unique opportunity to bring your discipline expertise and business knowledge experience in a newly created thought leadership role, VP Enterprise Data Assets, Products and Governance, reporting to the Chief Data Analytics Officer of Travelers. This role will help drive the evolution and implementation of Traveler's data and analytics strategy to support progress toward our strategic objectives; to extend our advantage in risk expertise, provide great experiences, and improve productivity and efficiency.

This role will require a passion for collaborating and working across the organization, in close partnership with functional areas, business segments and technology to advance the development and delivery of enterprise data products, assets and tools to solve business problems. The ideal candidate will have a deep disciplinary knowledge, superior business and communication skills, and the ability to simplify complex topics for our internal and external customers. In addition, he/she will ensure an Enterprise wide data governance standard and will play a key role as champion of our Traveler's data culture.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge:

  • Advanced Degree in in business, management, accounting, economics, statistics, information science or related field preferred.

  • Ten or more years of progressive experience in data, analytics, business intelligence or related fields preferred.

  • Proven ability to build the vision for and lead an integrated data and analytics team.

  • Deep understanding and demonstrated ability to adapt to complex business environments and situations.

  • Broad understanding of latest Data, Analytics and Technology trends and their impact on business strategies and operations, including but not limited to public cloud, Hadoop and artificial intelligence.

  • Demonstrated ability to articulate, persuade and communicate the value of data and analytics.

  • Experience defining, motivating and driving change at the executive level and across stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment preferred.

  • Experience working on customer insights and analytics in the digital space preferred.

  • Experience as a thought leader and innovator in the development of new assets/products, tools, methodologies and problem-solving approaches preferred.

  • Experience in defining, motivation and shaping outcomes at the executive level and across diverse stakeholder in a highly matrixed environment.

  • Experience in business analytics, insights tools and support desired.

  • Experience as a thought leader and champion of a discipline to elevate the discipline from a talent, tools, process, and problem-solving perspective.

Minimum Qualifications:

Eight years of Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Data experience required. Bachelor's Degree in business, management, accounting, economics, statistics, information science or related field required. People leadership experience
