Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented and creative Construction Project Manager for our Kings Bay, Georgia location.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for administering the project from the pre-construction budgeting/ schedule stage through procurement, shop drawing/coordination development, construction, space turnover and contract closeout.

  • Ensure project completion within budget, schedule and conformance with design documents.

  • Assist the project executive and senior project manager in working with all departments including estimating scheduling, procurement, labor relations, finance, accounting and other services required. The goal is to achieve an integrated team approach.

  • Participate in developing project bidding strategy with the project team and purchasing department. Prepare scopes of work for each trade, in construction with purchasing.

  • Review and provide schedule information for bid documents. May be asked to participate in contract negotiations.

  • Develop with the project superintendent, a logistics plan that allows the contractors to complete their work in a coordinated, efficient manner.

  • Coordinate and integrate the activities of all of the assistant project managers, project engineers and other support staff on the project.

  • Establish priorities for the project staff based on owner and project requirements.

  • Review and approve all major purchase orders, change orders and contractor/vendor requisitions as prepared by the project staff. Review and approves all project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates, financial reports.

  • Ensure that the owner is apprised of all deviations from the project baseline data (i.e., original schedule, budget, etc.)

  • Provide safety oversight for all on site activities. The individual must be familiar with the requirements of EM 385-1 and have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.

  • Lead project teams and ensure project completion within budget, schedule and conformance with design documents.

  • Establish regularly scheduled meetings with the contractors to review the following: shop drawing preparation/approval, equipment/material lead times and required on-site dates, project schedule, quality/performance issues on and off site.

  • Monitor contractor/vendor pending costs as reported and the appropriate contractor/vendor. Ensure that the cost report is updated on a weekly basis.

  • Conducts monthly project/client meetings to review project progress and the following issues: Current cost projections/change orders issued to date, anticipated “pending” costs, schedule update, requisition review, highlight near term major activities, interface issues (equipment/shop drawing review, RH’s, etc.), changes to the project, any other issues deemed appropriate should also be addressed in this meeting.

  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of the final project report, and prompt closeout of the subcontracts.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field and + 6 years of construction management experience of varied Federal and commercial construction projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Minimum Requirement Equivalencies:

  • AA/AS (US) + 8 years of construction management experience

OR

  • High School Diploma/GED + 10 years of construction management experience

Additional Minimum Requirements:

  • Fixed price and design/build construction in a constructor or General Contractor role.

  • Working knowledge of Federal Contract delivery and Federal Subcontracting. Familiarity with FAR/DFAR requirements.

  • Knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, industry standards and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies.

  • Skill in management and administrative experience – schedule management, cost tracking, and change management are key requirements.

  • Skill in written and oral communication.

  • Proven leadership ability.

  • Computer/Software proficiency. Microsoft Office proficiency a minimum (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Primavera (P6) Scheduling preferred

  • Experience working with government clients: NAVFAC, USACE, USAF

  • Experience with work in remote areas
