Purpose of Job

The Finance Shared Services Centre in Cork manages and processes activities on behalf of a number of customer entities, one of which is the payroll process. The purpose of this role is to manage the International payroll process (currently 8 payrolls in 6 countries), ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time, that third parties involved in the process are managed effectively, that payroll costs are recorded in a timely and accurate manner and that McKesson is compliant.

Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing

  • Liaise with HR Operations and managersregarding the monthly submission of payroll changes/additions to the externalPayroll Processing Partner in line with agreed payroll calendar

  • Review ‘Pre-Commit’ Payroll Reports whichset out the gross, net and pay components per employee, reconciling them backto data submitted

  • Feedback to payroll provider on anyadjustments prior to approval of payroll

  • Prepare variance analysis for review

  • BACS submissions and bank file uploads fornet payments

  • Maintain relevant payroll documentationincluding Standard Operating Procedures for the payroll process

Accounting and Compliance:

  • Prepare and post payroll journals togeneral ledger

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations

  • Quarterly CSO filings for Ireland

  • Complete relevant share scheme return andsubmit to tax authorities

  • Responsibility for ensuring compliance onall monthly/annual and periodic payroll filings and payments across alljurisdictions

  • Liaise with E&Y, responsible forprocessing ‘shadow’/expat payroll, to ensure compliance

  • Liaise with tax officials and PayrollProcessing Partner to ensure required information is submitted accurately andon time to ensure compliance

  • Engage with HR and Comp & Bens Teams toensure that all benefits and deductions are treated correctly internally andexternally by third parties

  • Seek external tax expertise as appropriate& act as SME at all times on Payroll related matters

  • Engage third parties to advise on treatmentof pay elements, if required, and liaise with tax officials to ensurecompliance.

Query management:

  • Review and respond to any queries raised byemployees or other internal stakeholders to HR which have been forwarded on topayroll or directly to payroll

  • Liaise with HR Operations, Compensation andBenefits Team, HR Business Partners or other members of finance in an effort toaddress a query as required.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders tointerpret and analyse external tax advice to ensure the correct treatment inpayroll.

Third Parties

  • Payroll Processing Partner

  • Review performance against the contract andservice level agreement

  • Escalate issues as required to appropriateinternal and external person

  • Pension, Health Care and OtherProviders

  • Support set up of employees

  • Prepare and provide relevant reports

  • Business Development

  • Participate in any projects in relation tothe transition of payrolls into the Shared Services Centre in conjunction withPayroll Provider

  • Represent the payroll function on multi-disciplinaryproject teams as arise

Requirements

  • At least 5 year’s payroll experience with at least 2 of those managing or supervising multi country Payroll in a shared services environment

  • ADP Globalview/Streamline experience an advantage

  • Strong experience in accounting and compliance for payroll

  • In depth knowledge of payroll, equity and mobility tax rules

  • Workday experience an advantage but not a requirement

  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal with ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation

  • Attention to detail

  • Commercial awareness and understanding of business concepts

  • Disciplined in planning and execution to achieve goals
