HCA Healthcare’s Cardiovascular Service Line (CVSL) is one of the_largest and strongest service lines within HCA_and across the United States, based on volume, growth and market share as well as a number of other operational and clinical performance metrics. The CVSL team is primarily responsible for the design, development and successful execution of the HCA CVSL business plan which spans the entire continuum, including cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and cardiovascular and vascular surgery. The CVSL team is focused on driving growth, operational efficiency and clinical performance in collaboration with various critical stakeholders across the enterprise (170 hospitals in the US and UK).

_HCA has unique executive career paths in service line leadership through the Operations & Services Lines Group_. The Director of CVSL reports directly to the AVP of CVSL who is a member of the CVSL Executive Leadership Team. The CVSL team has four strategic pillars: Market Development, Physician Development, Program Development and Care Coordination Development. The Director will serve as a strategic, analytic and business development leader_primarily responsible for executing on the Market Development strategic pillar_. This strategic pillar is focused on Division, Market and Facility service line leadership & governance; business plan execution and performance review/assessment. The Director, along with all CVSL team members, is_measured on overall CVSL performance (volume, market share, etc.) as well as successful execution of planned CVSL Business Plan growth/operational tactics_by field-CVSL Leaders.

The Director will need to leverage CVSL-specific and general_strategic planning, analytic, business [development], and operational leadership skills_to achieve Market Development goals. Additionally, the Director should have_relevant experience demonstrating these skills_(preferably within HCA or at a similar or higher level outside of HCA). To successfully execute on Market Development objectives, the Director will need to leverage an efficient, yet matrixed, organization, in a collaborative fashion with the other CVSL team members, often without direct line authority.

Frequent,_key interactions and customers include senior Division, Market and Facility executive leaders_, CVSL operational leaders (Division, Market and Facility) and key stakeholders across multiple organizational areas (including, but not limited to, Clinical Services Group, Physician Services Group, Physician and Provider Relations, and Strategic & Innovation Group). This individual will also have a role interfacing with both national and Market-level physician leaders related to Market Development, CV Governance and strategic planning.

This_dynamic position presents an opportunity for exposure to both Corporate and field-based HCA executives_thereby allowing the Director to gain perspective and make an impact at many levels. Success in this role will lead to both short and long-term leadership development opportunities.


Primarily responsible for Market Development activities inclusive of, but not limited to, the following:(anticipate up to 30-40% travel)

Field Service Line Leadership & Structure * Serve as primary point-of-contact for Division CVSL Leaders, develop strong working relationships * Continue to develop/enhance the role and structure of Division/Market CVSL leaders; recruit and onboard new leaders * Collaborate with Division/Market CVSL leaders to optimize Market CV governance * Plan and lead regular meetings with CVSL Leaders (e.g., CVSL User Group) Strategy & Business Planning * Drive development of cardiovascular strategic priorities and tactics with Division and Market CVSL Leaders; ensure tactics prioritized to align with greatest growth opportunity * Ensure alignment with and integration into Division strategic planning processes Performance Review & Execution * Plan and support preparation for Division Operating Reviews (DORs) * Collaborate with other CVSL team members to identify analytics tools/resources needed to achieve growth Supportive of other CVSL strategic pillars: * Ensure Division, Market and Facility business plan strategies and tactics align with HCA CVSL Program Development business plan objectives * Ensure Division, Market and Facility business plan strategies and tactics align with HCA CVSL Physician Development business plan objectives * Ensure Division, Market and Facility business plan strategies and tactics align with HCA Care Management Development objectives Knowledge: * Possesses hospital and/or multi-hospital-system level service line planning (preferably Cardiovascular) experience and good grasp of administrative and clinical work flow in care settings including inpatient, emergency department and outpatient * Understands major trends in healthcare, managed care and reimbursement * HCA experience preferred or similar-level cardiovascular experience outside of HCA Skills/abilities: * Ability to travel to Markets (anticipate up to 30-40% travel) * Excellent interpersonal skills and executive presence with senior-most organizational and physician leaders * Strong leader with a mature sense of priorities and solid practical experience who can design and implement systems within the framework of technical boundaries * Politically savvy, has a high tolerance for ambiguity and can work successfully in a matrix management model. * Excellent analytical, evaluation and problem solving-skills, strong business acumen * Strong ability to delegate operational tasks and hold team accountable for operational effectiveness * Ability to lead data analyses leveraging financial, market share and other relevant data sources to ensure accurate and timely data * Collaborative and consensus-building skills * Tireless work ethic with flawless attention to detail * Skilled in strategic decision-making, analytics, project management and root cause analysis
