Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Data Solutions Architect is a senior member of the Data Management team with a focus on design, development, and implementation of advanced analytics to identify and exploit insights with positive business impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Improve the performance, data quality and data security of the data warehouse and data mart repositories.

  • Envision the future of data warehouse and data marts and think of innovative ways that data science can be applied to benefit the business.

  • Contribute to the delivery of major business solutions.

  • Analyze large data sets to develop custom models and algorithms to drive business solutions.

  • Build large data sets from multiple sources in order to develop and train algorithms for predicting future data characteristics and provide the appropriate recommendations in real time.

  • Conduct advanced statistical analysis to determine trends and significant data relationships.

  • Participate in projects from a technology perspective, ensuring that software development life cycle activities are consistent with the direction set by accepted best practices and internal standards.

  • Design and develop data warehouse applications and will assist project teams and production support staff in building new data warehouse capabilities and resolving data warehouse related issues.

  • Design and implement efficient and effective methods and processes to move data between applications and the data repositories using ODI and other tools.

  • Work on highly technical initiatives, including but not limited to: research, tool evaluation, documenting patterns and standards, technology evaluation and recommendation, developing shared libraries and resources, and mentoring developers through hands-on assistance, training and some technical development.

  • Works with Application Architects, Data Architects, DBAs, and business partners to provide recommendations and best practices for the data warehouse, data models and data services required to support strategic initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. A combination of education and experience, including military service will also be considered.

  • 10 years of hands-on technical work with database technologies, applications, and experience with data modeling / database design.

  • 4 years of experience in data mining, machine learning.

  • Demonstrated experience with: Data warehouse database and enterprise system architecture. Business intelligence and data warehouse concepts. ETL concepts and tools. Developing and applying advanced quantitative techniques toward solving business and information/technology problems.

Using Oracle / Microsoft SQL Server and statistical software packages (such as SAS, STATA, and/or R) to create analytic datasets from very large, complex relational databases. Developing custom models and data mining.

  • Understanding of data storage technologies: relational databases/SQL, XML, JSON, etc.

  • Knowledge with statistical research techniques, including clustering and segmentation.

  • Strong programming ability, including experience programming in one or more programming languages.

  • Demonstrated strong negotiation, problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with third parties and internal staff at all levels of the organization.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience working with statistics, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, machine learning and statistical modeling

  • Oracle Data Integrator experience.

  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
