Job Description

Admits patients and provides information regarding Physician Home Visit Program services and regulations. Conducts interviews to obtain demographic and insurance information. Performs a variety of other clerical duties related to patient�s program admission.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Admits patients to the program and provides information regarding the program’s services.

  • Conducts interviews to obtain demographics, insurance information, etc. and enters data into Patient Registration System.

  • Contacts insurance carrier(s) to obtain all information necessary for the successful billing of 3rd party payers (coordination of benefits, benefit coverage/limits, co-pay/deductible amounts, authorization, pre-certification and referral requirements etc.). Re-verifies insurance of recurring patients.

  • Assists with obtaining financial information regarding Medicaid applications and re-certifications.

  • Prepares patient folder, registration forms, and other related documentation.

  • Reconciles charge documents with patient logs and enters charges into the Patient Registration System. Batches and forwards faculty practice charge documents.

  • Receives and records discharge notices on the Patient Registration System to ensure timely transmission of data to the Financial Management System.

  • Schedules patient for visits, pre-admission testing, special tests and consultations, or bookings and arranges patient transportation as necessary.

  • Maintains and reconciles daily census. Notifies medical staff of patient’s status.

  • Answers telephone, maintains files, sorts mail and keeps inventory of supplies. Informs medical staff of all schedules, activities, needs and problems. Accumulates data for performance reports.

  • Performs related duties, as required.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of health care insurance reimbursement, financial verification and third-party reimbursement experience, required. Data retrieval experience using eligibility database systems, highly preferred.

  • Ability to communicate well and interact with patients, families, medical staff and Health Systems services.

  • Financial counseling regarding Medicare/Medicaid applications, preferred.
