The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops/designs solutions for a variety of technical problems of minor to moderate scope and complexity across the mechanical, plumbing/fire protection engineering discipline

  • Develops specifications, system narratives and system layouts for a variety of projects and project sizes

  • Begins to establish system application, design and operational parameters / sequences independently

  • Participates in QA/QC process

  • Performs construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reports

  • Mentor and guide younger engineers and designers in processing RFI’s, Change Orders, Bulletins, and Addenda

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience in consulting engineering

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of engineering production software including AutoCAD, MS Office, etc

  • Ability to perform HVAC load calculations, size and select Mechanical equipment, layout duct and distribution systems

  • Familiarity with New York State / New York City building codes

  • Familiarity with NFPA standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Revit MEP

  • Sustainability, resiliency and/or climate adaptation experience

  • Experience with New York City Agency (NYCHA, NYPA, DDC, EDC, MTA, SCA etc.) projects

  • Ability to perform hydraulic calculations, size and select fire protection equipment, layout sprinkler and standpipe systems
