IBM Data Scientist in NEW YORK, New York
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Growth and User Engagement' (G&UE) Data Science team in IBM Digital Business Group’s Customer Experience and Growth. The role will report to the Data Science and Analytics Lead.
The Data Scientist will be responsible for designing data collection (i.e., instrumentation) and analyzing the adoption and usage of IBM Digital (XaaS) Products. In addition to measuring the Customer Experience along the User Journey, the role will extract business actionable insights from data and information that will be used to discover opportunities to improve the experience, increase adoption and engagement, and optimize revenue from DBG offerings.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in applying statistical methods (e.g., Cluster Analysis and Classification, Regression Models and including Forecasting) to infer and predict user intent from measurable behavior on complex digital products.
The Data Scientist will support the GUE teams that help Offering Managers improve the products. So, they must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of starting data measurement and recommending improvements to the current and next generation of products and data initiatives.
Responsibilities for Data Scientist
Identify business needs and design measurement plans including data collection, instrumentation
Query databases (Postgres SQL) to assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
Implement internal data processing and improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery and presentation
Work with analytics tools and languages (R, python) used by data scientist team members to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, product adoption and usage, revenue and other key business performance metrics
Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Exposure to Marketing and Sales Systems of Record for IBM Products and Services
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
We are looking for a candidate with 2-5+ years of experience in a Data Scientist role, who has attained a Graduate degree in Statistics, Operations Research/Mathematical Optimization, Mathematics, Physics or another quantitative field.
Preferred Tech and Prof Experience
A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Experience with statistical analysis software and tools: R, Python, SPSS, SAS,
Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra.
Experience using data presentation software/tools: Amplitude, Tableau
Exposure with Client/Server-Side Tag Management Systems: Segment, Ensighten, Tealium, Adobe DTM or Launch, Google Tag Manager
Exposure with Digital Campaign Tools like Braze (Appboy)
