Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Deputy Director of Operational Readiness for employment in the New York, NY office.

The position plays a principal role in MTACC’s management of the ESA operational readiness effort prior to Project turnover to the LIRR, through effective management of Rail Activation Plan implementation; participation in Project initiatives originating within and directed by the Passenger Experience group; oversight over the Asset Management group within ESA Operational Readiness; and other support and assistance to the Director, ESA Operational Readiness.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly assists and supports the responsibilities/support functions relating to the ESA Operational Readiness group’s role

  • Ensuring a quality passenger experience for LIRR and MTA – in the development of ESA customer-related operational considerations, and during ESA construction when such construction directly impacts existing customers and operations

  • Monitoring the performance of the ESA Asset Management unit

  • Overseeing the coordination required for the development of the ESA Data Warehouse

  • Providing technical assistance and support to the MTACC Assistant Chief of Safety & Security in the safety and security certification of all ESA contracts, where appropriate

  • Taking the lead with ESA tunnel vent coordination management with NYCT/ESA/LIRR

  • Coordinating across multiple LIRR/ESA/MNR Task Groups

  • Providing assistance to the Director, ESA Operational Readiness; and delegates assignments to, and supervises work activity of embedded inter-agency (MTACC; LIRR; MNR) OpR staff, as necessary

Providing technical assistance and support in the management and implementation of the Rail Activation Plan for the East Side Access project; this includes:

  • The review and issuance of meeting minutes

  • Providing quality control for all ESA OpR output and deliverables

  • Functioning as an effective Inter-Agency liaison

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Management, Planning, and/or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of progressively responsible management experience in a rail transit or passenger railroad environment

  • Experience in governmental affairs, public administration or public relations preferred

  • Thorough understanding of railroad systems and operations

  • Thorough understanding of quality customer service delivery in a transportation and facilities management environment

  • Strong writing and verbal communications abilities are an absolute must

  • Strong MS-Office skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Understanding of databases a plus

  • PeopleSoft experience is desired
