The Enterprise Strategy Associate is a leader within the company. As such, s/he plays a key role advising and influencing individuals at all levels in the organization on solving large, complex problems critical to Aetna's success. The Enterprise Strategy Associate partners with business leaders to formulate Aetna's strategic plan at both the enterprise and business-unit level typical responsibilities include assessing the external environment, leading / performing hypotheses and analyses, and effectively communicating insights and ideas. S/he independently leads solution development on small to mid-sized projects and contributes critical thinking and analysis on larger projects. The Enterprise Strategy Associate also forms relationships with internal partners and external constituents to move strategic initiatives and thinking forward.

The Associate in Enterprise Strategy can expect to develop their overall leadership and influencing skills in addition to becoming skilled at building and implementing strategic plans, deepening and broadening their industry expertise, and creating compelling communications.

Fundamental Components

  • Lead strategic thinking in support of business planning, especially within areas of expertise.

  • Craft / perform market research and provide both qualitative and quantitative insights associated with solution development.

  • Create compelling executive-level communications to build consensus among or gather feedback from senior leaders and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor performance and ensure progress towards Aetna's strategic plan.

  • Participate in communicating Aetna's strategy and advocating a strategic mindset in the organization, including participating in strategy team sharing and learning.


  • 6+ years leadership experience and technical/functional expertise in several of the following areas: management consulting, financial analysis, project management, public policy, mergers and acquisitions, operations management and/or marketing.

  • Experience with mid-sized cross-functional initiatives, with a moderate to high degree of complexity.


    The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Master's degree.

    Telework Specifications:

    Location: 1st Preference New York City; 2nd Preference Wellesley or Hartford; Open to remote location for the right candidate.
