CBRE Senior Financial Analyst in New York, New York

Responsible for the overall financial support of CBRE client’s real estate outsourcing contract. Conducts and documents complex financial and operational analyses and ad hoc projects, including review and investigation of financial data and results, as well as key operational metrics. Establish and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external clients, working within a matrix reporting environment - Dedicated Account Team, Regional Finance and Corporate and Client Accounting. Support the Client on all aspects of accounting, finance, analysis, reporting and special projects as required. Leverage related accounting, finance and operations technology platforms to deliver business intelligence, reporting and analytics. Knowledge of the real estate industry, facilities management and project management

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports Finance Director, Senior Finance Manager, Regional and Operational field teams in a variety of areas of accounting, financial reporting and analysis:

  • Experience with structuring and manipulating large data sets – ability to scrub, synthesize and summarize into decision making outputs. Ability to decipher complex situations and generated key takeaways and conclusions for presentation to others.

  • Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Compile, decipher, analyze, and interpret financial information and the ability to accurately explain/report activity in verbal and written communications.

  • Review, perform, and coordinate accounting and financial analysis across different departments, regions or business segments including monthly management reporting, variance analyses, account reconciliations, strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting.

  • Constant drive towards process improvements and gains in efficiency by brainstorming new, automated ways of accomplishing tasks (excel, web‐based, etc.).

  • A drive to understand processes, data and interpret their meaning, rather than just following a manual checklist of steps and delivery of output

  • Support the client billing, vendor invoicing and cost allocations processes associated with the real estate portfolio and completing AP upload requirements.

  • Funding request review, Commodity & operations coding, Proactive client inquiry response

  • Vendor management including invoice management, reconciliations, payment, and contractual financial compliance

  • Purchase Order creation and management, as well as ongoing accrual process support

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May coordinate and assign tasks to co‐workers within a work unit and/or project. As a “go‐to resource,” duties may encompass technical guidance and/or training to co‐workers, as well as policy development and participation in special initiatives (modeling, system implementations, acquisition integrations, other).

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university, and a minimum of four to six years of related experience and related training.

  • Technology: Microsoft Office as a primary technology tool:

  • Advanced experience in Excel: Ability to calculate results using pivots, sum ifs, lookups, filtering, sorting, named ranges, graphing, formatting;

  • Moderate experience in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, or Access

  • Additional experience in Peoplesoft, Tableau, Coupa, JD Edwards, Tradeshift or Cognos is preferred

  • Analytics: Requires strong analytical and quantitative skills that goes beyond number manipulation; ability to problem solve; evaluate data output, quality, and error recognition; suggest solutions and evaluate your audience to communicate the data to non- Finance, Operations and Business Leadership audiences.

  • Quality, accuracy and timeliness: Must have a detailed approach & orientation – accuracy, quality and meeting deadlines is a requirement. The ability to manage multiple priorities with high flexibility and appropriate response time.

  • Proactive and high energy: A self-starter, energetic and inquisitive.

  • Strong & professional work ethic, with ability to adapt within an open work environment: Must be flexible to meet client and corporate deadlines.

  • Communications: Strong written and verbal communication skills to varied corporate & client audiences.

  • Customer Service: Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers. Ability to understand the audience and customize approach to maximize and simplify understanding. Ability to effectively present information to supervisors, management and clients.

  • Information Design and Presentation: Design, generate, review, and understand reports. Create presentations and other client-facing materials. Presentation elements may also include maps, charts, tables, illustrations, and other features using Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

  • Knowledge of real estate service industry and terminology is helpful. Strong work ethic and adaptable, with future goals of becoming a financing manager/director.

Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Good judgment is important to reduce any negative impact to co-workers, management or clients.
