Senior Manager: Health Care Strategy

The team - Health Care Strategy

Focuses on assisting those organizations that are responsible for the delivery, funding and payment management of health care and medical related services. Clients include hospitals, academic medical centers, health systems, home health agencies, long term care, outpatient facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, practitioners and physician groups as well as health plans, other health insurance companies, and pharmacy benefit managers. Also drives integration with government agencies.

Our Strategy practice brings together several key capabilities that will allow us to architect integrated programs that transform our clients businesses, including Strategic Growth Transformation, Technology Strategy & Business Transformation, and Analytics & Cognitive. Strategy professionals will serve as trusted advisors to our clients, working with them to make clear data-driven choices about where to play and how to win, in order to drive growth, enterprise value and business model transformation.

Strategy will help our clients:

  • Identify strategies for growth and value creation

  • Develop the appropriate business models, operating models, and capabilities to support their strategic vision

  • Maximize the ROI on technology investments and leverage technology and Cloud trends to architect future business strategies

Work you ll do

Health Care engagements:

  • Serve as the day-to-day team leader for staff and as the primary point of contact for the senior client and practice leadership.

  • Lead client teams across the strategy lifecycle from strategy formulation to the design of large-scale transformation programs

  • Work across other Deloitte offerings to bring the breadth and depth of the largest health care consultancy in the world to our clients

Senior Managers are professionals with strong records of academic and professional achievement who have the capacity and desire for continuous development and growth. Deloitte Consulting professionals must also be capable of working and communicating with people at all levels of an organization.

Responsibilities typical of a Senior Manager on one of these projects could include:

  • Client Management: Manage day to day interactions with executive clients and sponsors

  • Business Development: Develop and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients; organize and lead pursuit teams; participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process; contribute to the development of proposal pricing strategies

  • Practice Development & Eminence: Develop practical solutions and methodologies; develop "thought-ware" and "point-of-view" documents; participate in public speaking events; get published in industry periodicals

  • People Development: Perform role of counselor and coach; provide input and guidance into the staffing process; actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities; provide leadership and support for delivery teams and staff in local offices

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master s of Business Administration (MBA) degree from an accredited program

  • Excellent undergraduate academic record (GPA 3.5 )

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the health care industry (Provider and/or Plans sectors)

  • Prior strategy consulting experience

  • Demonstrated excellence in serving clients as a strategic advisor

  • Demonstrated consistent career progression with increasing levels of responsibility

  • Performed above expectations in previous professional roles

  • Superior critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal, team-building and communication skills

  • Ability to build consensus and foster change in a client business setting

  • Tolerance for working in ambiguous, uncertain environments

  • Commitment to personal and professional growth

  • Sense of responsibility to self, team and client

  • Outstanding integrity, initiative, creativity, and passion

  • Experience leading or managing teams and change initiative

  • Willingness and ability to travel 80%

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in health care IT, virtual health, and/or developing and implementing a strategic business technology program

  • Clinical education and experience (e.g., physician, nurse), Experience managing virtual health as an offering in a health care setting

  • Knowledge of technology architecture and interoperability tools

  • 8 years of management consulting experience in a health care related field
