Work You ll DoAssist clients to balance compliance details and long-term tax strategies as well as understand national, state and local, and international tax structures and align tax functions with business objectives. Provide day-to-day client service relationships and serve as the gateway to a variety of specialized tax services that can help improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client's overall tax risk profile. Work closely with clients and other members of the team to understand each organization's global goals and strategies and how industry and economic trends affect the business. Provide compliance and consulting services to corporate and individual clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Primary responsibilities include participating in complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries, and researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions and the tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Undertake tax compliance assignments for current and former executives of client corporations and partners of client organizations. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for federal and individual clients. Mentor and coach junior team members and escalate issues when necessary. Will commute within New York, NY area to consult with clients concerning the above job duties. #LI-DNI RequirementsBachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business Administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent).Eighteen months of experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and tax returns.Experience must include eighteen months of:Preparing and reviewing federal, state, and local tax returns and quarterly estimated taxes for insurance companies using Corptax and OneSource;Utilizing tax software and various research tools, including LexisNexis, BNA, and CCH, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to clients;Preparing and reviewing tax provisions under ASC 740 and SSAP101 for public and non-public insurance clients including the computation of current and deferred taxes, analyzing and supporting tax basis balance sheets, assessing the impacts of valuation allowance and non-admitted DTA provisions, providing management reporting and analysis, and preparing support and disclosures for external auditors;Preparing separate and combined state tax returns and federal Forms 1120, 1120-PC and 1120L;Applying Subchapter L regulations and identifying issues for insurance companies;Preparing tax provisions and statutory accounting for insurance companies in accordance with GAAP standards; andAssisting in client communication on tax rules updates, addressing client questions and identifying tax planning opportunities.Less than 10% travel outside of normal commuting distance.
