Job Description

CACI’s Business and Information Technology Solutions is seeking a multi-functional Software Engineer (Applications Packager) to join our NTCSS Laptop Server Project Team. NTCSS Laptop Server provides a private virtual infrastructure that can support NTCSS software applications that is designed to provide ship and aviation maintenance management, inventory management, supply and financial business management, administration, and personnel management to Navy and Marine Corps operational forces.


  • You’ll use a combination of your demonstrated knowledge and experience in object oriented programming languages such as C++, Java, Visual basic .NET, etc. coupled with our customer’s proprietary toolset to develop installation packages containing the latest Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) patches

  • As a multi-functional Software Engineer (Applications Packager) you will use your experience with VMware to established and maintain virtual environments

  • As member of this team, you’ll also perform monitoring for security, stability and availability. You will work closely with the other system teams to perform patch management, testing, troubleshooting and optimization activities

  • Lastly, you'll work with your fellow team members to create and maintain systems documentation and design artifacts.


  • US Citizen and SECRET Clearance must be current

  • Bachelor’s degree from a U. S. Department of Education accredited college or university or possess current and relevant certifications (ex. VCP, RHEL, Microsoft)

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification or higher (ex. CompTIA Security+, CASP, CISSP)

  • 5+ years’ experience with VMWare products.

  • Demonstrated work experience or formal education/training in at least one structured or object-oriented programming languages such as C++, C, COBOL, Ruby, Visual Basic .NET, C#, Java, Python or Perl.

  • Demonstrated experience with VMware Powercli and Microsoft Powershell.

  • Demonstrated experience with VMware vSphere 5.x and higher, which includes installing and configuring ESXi 5.x and higher and vCenter 5.x and higher.

  • Experience with creating and implementing security policies, utilities, and procedures for Windows and virtual environments.

  • Experience providing application packaging and patching experience in an enterprise desktop system environment.


  • Demonstrated ability to interpret security policies, procedures, standards, guidelines provided from Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot packaging problems

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and support a VMware based virtual environment; Scope includes creating, configuring, and updating virtual machines.

  • Demonstrated technical expertise with general Microsoft and Linux operating systems administration.

  • Demonstrated experience with network-based storage platforms such as HP StoreVirtual SAN Appliance, or VMware's VSA.

  • Demonstrated technical expertise with general Microsoft and Linux operating systems administration.

  • Demonstrated experience with Group Policy management and Windows patching.

  • Demonstrated the ability to maintain and support layer two and layer three devices such as routers and switches.

  • Experience in reviewing and analyzing evidence of remediation of security findings, providing guidance and expertise where necessary.

  • Ability to compose technical reports, system administration guides, statements of work, management plans and/or related documents.
