Transdev Paratransit Dispatcher in North Las Vegas, Nevada

Full-Time Window/Radio Dispatchers schedule and dispatch drivers; coordinates with department manager who directs and schedule work of Dispatch staff.


  • Essential Job Functions:

  • Dispatches drivers both via radio and window dispatch work; light scheduling of driver

  • Answers calls from clients and schedule services

  • Maintains records, logs, and schedules of the calls received to schedule transit services, drivers dispatched, and customer cancellations or no-shows

  • Enters data into spreadsheets and databases

  • Prepares reports on all activities occurring during their shifts

  • Assists with the preparation of daily schedules and work flow related to daily scheduling

  • Serves as an emergency contact for drivers in the field

  • Coordinates communications between drivers and other supervisory, Risk Management, and Training/Safety personnel.

  • Coordinates with municipal, county and other agencies in emergency situations or in traffic-routing problems, detours, enhanced service requirements

  • Works closely with Manager to administer the Dispatch function

  • Documents and reports disciplinary issues to managerOther duties as required.


Education, Licensing, and Certifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required

  • A valid Class C or higher Nevada Driver’s License

Experience Required :

  • Previous Radio Dispatch (trucking, bus,n Para-transit, cab/taxi, OTR experience experience (up to one year) required

  • Customer Service experience in high volume transit/logistic environment

  • Experience with handling high-level radio dispatch volume required

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in Trapeze systems, algorithm software, TansitExec software, Tripspark software HIGHLY preferred

  • Driving experience with Transdev preferred, but not required

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to organize logical and efficient schedules and routes and adapt to changes

  • Knowledge of city street systems, peak traffic times and locations, and effects of weather on street conditions

  • Ability to read, comprehend and understand a map

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, phases and routes

  • Ability to assist handicapped passengers when needed

  • Proficient knowledge of the methods of operating two-way communications equipment and proper radio procedures, and ability to communicate via radio or communications system

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm and organized in emergency and complex transit operation problems

  • Ability to use a multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently

  • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups

Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

  • Majority of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities

  • Majority of work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.

  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
