Global Project and Alliance Management (GPAM) sits in the Research & Development organization. The Project Managers and Alliance Managers in Global Project and Alliance Management (GPAM) are core members of discovery, development, and alliance teams at our Company. Project Managers drive these cross-functional teams to deliver projects and products that improve human health and our Company's business, and Alliance Managers ensure successful collaborations with our R&D alliance partners. The GPAM Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for the development, sustainment, and training of GPAM-owned systems, tools, and business processes as well as alignment with Finance, IT, and functional area operations groups within our Company.
GPAM is seeking summer interns to work collaboratively with Project Managers on pipeline projects and organizational initiatives. Individuals with an interest in learning project management fundamentals and an eagerness to learn the application of PM skills in pharmaceutical development should apply.
The responsibility of the role in conjunction with accountability of Project Manager (under mentor-ship and partnership of) may include:
Setting priorities with time management skills to effectively communicate projected time needed to complete tasks
Participating in creation of key deliverable to assist team in meeting goals and objectives
Assisting project manager in preparation of and participate as a team member on inputs for decision making, as appropriate
Effectively facilitating meetings and be able to ask key pointed questions to guide team in new directions
Learning how to use presentation / meeting material templates and participate in preparation of content; as appropriate
Participating in development of risk assessments and creation of risk mitigation plans
Participating in the clear communication of program issues / risks as they arise
Be able to serve as a point contact for stakeholders regarding project information/updates.
Compile and analyze data to summarize report/project updates & findings
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor's degree with a concentration in a scientific-related discipline strongly preferred.
Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to (12) weeks beginning in May or June of 2021.
Candidates must be highly organized and capable of working with attention to detail, and able to relate project details to larger project objectives.
Candidates must have effective interpersonal and teamworking skills; able to create and foster relationships and collaboration with team members from other areas of the company.
Candidates must have ability to define solutions and formulate and execute on actions across a team.
Candidates must have analyzing and evaluating an issue or situation, so that you can form an unbiased judgement.
Candidates must have an effective communicator:
Knows when and how to speak up and appropriately raise issues and/or ask for guidance.
Keeps both team members, departmental colleagues (as appropriate) and management fully apprised of project / initiative status and issues.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Candidates should have familiarity with drug discovery / development
Candidates should have a track-record of accomplishment in a project management type role is desirable
Candidates should have experience using Microsoft PowerPoint
