Merck Associate Director, US Oncology Precision Medicine in North Wales, Pennsylvania

We are currently recruiting for an Associate Director, Precision Medicine Scientific Strategy Lead for US Oncology.

This individual will be responsible for building scientific engagement and education to support diagnostic testing across multiple tumors identifying appropriate patients in the US market. This position will require strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate across the organization, particularly within the broader US and global marketing teams. This candidate will need to have strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to operate in a highly complex environment due to the scientific and technical elements associated with the companion diagnostic market. An understanding of the companion diagnostic, oncology market is a plus.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead development and implementation of the biomarker and diagnostic scientific strategy to support current and future indications

  • Build strong relationships with external biomarker and diagnostic scientific leaders, stakeholders, and partners

  • Develop and align biomarker and diagnostic medical education to support all indications and changing competitive landscape

  • Develop and implement the biomarker and diagnostic congress management strategy for key pathology and oncology conferences across the full company oncology portfolio

  • Biomarker and Diagnostic advisory board development and management

  • Partner closely across all tumor teams supporting biomarker and diagnostics scientific engagements and question across indications

  • Serve as biomarker lead on select tumor specific brand teams providing insights and diagnostic strategic initiatives to aid the tumor brand team promotional plans and scientific engagements

Education:

  • Required: BA/BS

  • Preferred: MS/PhD/MBA/PharmD

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of (5) years Pharmaceutical or Diagnostics business experience

  • Strong relationship building, problem solving, teamwork, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills

  • Experience influencing without direct authority and working successfully with cross-functional teams

  • Promotion/communications experience and bringing materials through legal, regulatory, and compliance review

  • Requires approximately 30% travel, including some weekends

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Companion diagnostics experience including pathology or other key diagnostic relationships

  • Product/Indication Launch experience

  • Oncology marketing experience
