Merck Director, Public Health Partnerships in North Wales, Pennsylvania

Job Description

The Director, Public Health Partnerships is responsible for working with the head of Public Health Partnerships, coordinating the overall strategic direction of Public Health Partnerships and its initiatives; coordinating internal strategy development and engaging with World Health Organization regional offices and contributing to business priorities, including for pipeline products.

This individual will help drive Public Health Partnerships efforts to ensure that our Company's Global Vaccines business plans address middle income countries and underserved populations; and Identify and establish creative partnerships to increase sustainable access to these populations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the head of Public Health Partnerships, guide the development and execution of Public Health Partnershipsstrategic priorities

  • Lead the development and execution of our Company's Vaccines strategic engagement plans for regional offices of key global health organizations – e.g., World Health Organization Regional Offices (SEARO, AFRO, EMRO, EURO and WPRO); identify and execute creative partnerships with these organizations to facilitate vaccines uptake across diverse geographies

  • Lead efforts to leverage global development agenda for underserved and life course immunizationto help increase access to our Company's vaccines through creative partnerships

  • Work collaboratively with our Company's Vaccines Middle-Income Countries work group to help establish our Company Vaccines strategy forMiddle-Income Countries . This includes a working knowledge of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization plan for Middle-Income Countries and its implications for our business.

  • Guide development of our Company's engagement plans with key global health organizations on our pipeline products. In collaboration with the Public Health Partnerships Director liaison to World Health Organization, support execution of such plans

  • Internal stakeholder alignment – lead internal Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (and other stakeholders) Governance core team meetings and share relevant updates with our Company's Headquarters (franchises, Finance, Global Tender Management, Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization Core team, Vaccines Confidence team) and regional colleagues (IBA, Policy, Compliance); trouble shoot and identify creative solutions to key issues

  • Collaborate with our Company's regional, IBA and country teams to drive strategic engagementwith key regional and select country public health stakeholders

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization eligibility, transitioning and co-financing policies; increase internal understanding of these policies and their implications for our Company's business

Education Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in public health science or related sciences; or

  • Masters degree in Public Health.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Five years experience engaging with global public health organizations, including World Health Organization and other United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations.

  • Ability to work across cross functional teams, drive internal alignment and is results oriented.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills

  • Travel: Approximately 50% travel required
