Job Description

Industrial Engineering (IE) at Allstate exists to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity across all Allstate brands, with a focus on enhancing the customer experience and driving profitable growth for the company. Aligned as part of Corporate Business Transformation (CBT), IE is connected and deployed to corporate strategic priorities as a catalyst for change. The team functions as an internal consulting practice and center of excellence providing services including org design and staffing models for operational areas, best practices and process standards, and end-to-end system discovery and re-engineering to optimize the current state and reimagine the future. We take pride in providing data driven insights to help our business partners take action and realize tangible benefits.

The IE Associate Manager is an expert steward and builder of team methodologies while functioning as a project Coach and expert PM, may act as or support Liaison activities with Allstate’s senior leaders, and has responsibility for driving business results from IE engagements through executing each of their roles. They will be responsible for leading and participating in cross functional CBT initiatives with the role of integrating across business areas and being the driving force to activate these business areas and incite transformational change.

The IE Associate Manager will be responsible for directly or indirectly leading a team of Industrial Engineers and is responsible for growing the competency of their team and managing individual performance. This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with IE leadership team to set and achieve big goals while positioning the team to meet the growing and changing needs of the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Collaborates with IE Leadership team to inform vision, select and execute the highest value work, establish and maintain methodologies, and improve value and efficiency of the team

  • Manages direct or indirect reports, including coaching, performance management, project staffing, recruiting, hiring, individual capability development, and goal setting

  • Drives results. Pushes through barriers to identify financial and CE benefits and influence the implementation of recommendations to achieve enterprise benefits

  • Assists with or owns Liaison responsibilities, pro-actively networking with leaders to intake and initiate valuable engagements

  • Expands perspective of teams to consider system impacts and enables individuals to articulate IE value

  • Creates strong relationships with mid-level to senior leaders to gather detailed requirements and ensure projects are feasible, valuable, and will result in practical implementation. Uses relationship capital to resiliently challenge the status quo, gain buy-in, and increase the impact of the team.

  • Establishes themselves as a thought leader in any room, articulating points clearly regardless of audience

  • Leads the team in leveraging methodologies and emerging technologies to help Allstate transform

Project & Program Management

  • Leads high complexity/impact IE projects or portfolios. Leads or participates in work-streams within strategic CBT projects, utilizing IE and other methodologies while leveraging the expertise of cross functional teams

  • Provides project coaching as an IE and project management expert. May have formal/informal oversight over several projects and leadership relationships concurrently

  • Creates a path forward in ambiguous and complex situations by identifying a plan of action and taking accountability for its execution

  • Sets vision for project work and outcomes. Reviews technical analysis, findings, and deliverables. Holds themselves and others accountable to achieve results

Job Qualifications

  • Must have demonstrated experience as the driver of significant business results

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize strategic, conceptual, analytical, and design thinking

  • Ability to influence others to achieve results

  • Advanced time management skills including ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize and organize

  • Demonstrates clear, concise and effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to analyze data and apply it to complex problem resolution

  • Experience with emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence and RPA is preferred

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, or related degree and combination of engineering and business experience required

  • 5+ years of experience using statistical analysis to evaluate trends and business problems

  • 5+ years of experience in the use of industrial engineering and data driven methodologies

  • 5+ years of consulting and client relationship management experience

  • 1+ years management experience

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
