Job Description

The VP will build strategic alliances and partnerships to serve as Allstate’s principal liaison with groups critical to the company’s public social responsibility objectives. Internally, the VP will work closely with senior leaders throughout the company and serve as a strategist and advisor. Primary areas of accountability:

  • Develop strategies, initiatives, programs and socially responsible guidelines for business practices that will have an impact on Allstate’s reputation, thought leader position and business results

  • Lead national public social responsibility programs and develop new programs, as appropriate

  • Build public social responsibility practices in alignment with the company’s strategic prioritiesThe position reports to the Senior Vice President Enterprise Corporate Responsibility and B2B Communications and is based at corporate headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois.

Job Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 to 15 years of public social responsibility, community relations, volunteerism and charitable experience, with demonstrated and increasing levels of responsibility in:

  • Proven leader with a demonstrated track record of success in social responsibility strategies and leading a creative team

  • Advanced organization and project/program management skills

  • Advanced relationship management and leadership skills

  • Strong technical and operational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to articulate a vision and generate necessary consensus behind marketing communications; and is results driven and comfortable in driving change in a matrixed organization

  • An experienced and visionary leader who brings judgment, wisdom and business savvy to the organization

  • Advanced ability to translate business objectives into action plans

  • Extensive experience leading and managing cross-functional teams; exceptional project management skills

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities given aggressive timelines, ability to perform in a fast paced, dynamic and ambiguous business environment, ability to manage internal and external resources

  • Demonstrated capability to lead across a complex business, securing the commitment and alignment of differing parts of the organization through the use of influence and indirect authority

  • Politically astute with an ability to manage effectively in a matrixed environment;

  • Proficiency in ability to design and structure documents to effectively communicate and drive alignment and decision making

  • Proven ability to work across organizational boundaries and capability to influence senior and executive management

  • A bachelor’s degree with concentration in business or communications; and an MBA or advanced degree in Communications is preferred
