Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.

Reports To: Senior Director, Data Scientist
This role is for a technically skilled, senior developer who will architect anddevelop new data products based on Netflow data and our vast, internet-focused datarepository. The developer will also rapidlydesign and build high-impact analytics prototypes that will serve the broaderOracle as well as external customers.
This person will be a member of, and will work primarily with, the HanoverData Analytics team; they will also be expected to work with varying internaland external teams in a fast-paced, fluid environment. This individual should be able to work withminimal supervision on open-ended problems. The role demands considerableself-motivation and an ability to manage changing priorities, intellectualcuriosity, and wide-ranging technical mastery.
Designand develop advanced data analytics techniques and software based on streamingdata sets focused on Netflow feeds from various internal customers
Providereview and input to various stakeholders requirements; using those, negotiatetechnical requirements leading to rapid prototypes and, eventually, deployablesystems
Troubleshootand coordinate problem resolution activities with support teams
Developtest plans/cases to be used in verifying documented requirements
- Advanceddegree in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
Atleast 10 years of software development experience related to data storage,processing and analytics
Expert-levelunderstanding of Netflow data with at least 5 years of experience architectingand building products based on such data. Will be the technical go-to person for Netflow data within the group.
Ahigh level of skill using:
Linux,bash, and other commonly used open source protocols/frameworks (e.g., Github),
atleast one of Python, Go, or Perl.
automatingdata analysis from extremely large, complex datasets,
indexed dataretrieval using some database technology (e.g., SQL),
NoSQL methods(e.g., Hadoop)
writing new APIsand writing to existing APIs.
networkprotocols and routing (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, BGP, etc.),
multiprocessing,threading, distributed systems, and distributed computing environments.
Employsbest engineering practices, including coding standards, source control, defecttracking, build automation, thorough testing and documentation, and timelyresponse to bugs
