Kaiser Permanente Director, Managerial Consulting Services in Oakland, California
Oversees the activities of internal consulting staff who provide operational planning, program development, systems development, management information, and analytical consulting services. Manages all department activities, including planning, recruiting, developing staff. Provides expert level health plan/hospital consulting on highly complex program-wide projects with strategic importance to Kaiser. Negotiates contracts with external consultants. Reviews and approves all proposals.
Recruits, develops and manages group of managers, consultants, analysts and support staff who provide healthcare consulting services to internal clients.
Assists subordinate department managers in negotiating directly with clients concerning the scope, objectives, and delivery dates for projects assigned to their section. Defines the contractual obligations for the department.
Serves as the primary resource and expert consultant to senior leadership and staff on major and highly complex program-wide healthcare initiatives with strategic importance to Kaiser.
Guides department managers in their project and personnel management responsibilities. Oversees department staff development and training.
Determines the scope and objectives of projects and develops operating and capital budgets.
En sures that hiring, directing, and evaluating employees meets Federal and State requirements as well as KPNCR goals and objectives.
Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the health care industry.
Minimum seven (7) years of experience as a manager of consultants.
Master's degree in business administration, health care administration, public health, health policy and management or related discipline OR six (6) years of experience in a directly related field.
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
Substantial knowledge in one or more of the following: quantitative analysis, financial analysis, information systems, organizational development, cost accounting, decision science, operations research, health care delivery systems, or project management.
Excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Substantial experience leading teams performing analytic consulting, programming, data management, report design, data architecture, statistical modeling
Demonstrated strategic leadership including ability to lead change, develop talent, create and execute information strategy, influence, work collaboratively across departments and teams
Knowledge of healthcare operations, health informatics, performance improvement methods
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including with executives
PhD or Master-s degree in statistics or biostatistics
Expertise in program evaluation and predictive modeling
