Kaiser Permanente Radiology Oncology Systems Administrator in Oakland, California

Under the direction of the Regional Administrator of Radiation Oncology and the Regional Director of Radiation Oncology, the RO Systems Administrator manages the operations of the RO specific systems at the local facility to meet the clinical needs of the RO department's workflow and treatment processes. Additionally responsible for troubleshooting system problems and implementing regional initiatives and processes for a system-wide integrated RO environment. Responsible for local system support, software upgrades, peripheral installations and maintenance on non-MWI workstations (workstations not supported by KP-IT). Responsible for system backups and archiving of local image and RO specific systems. Responsible for training staff in local processes. Responsible for working in collaboration with KP-IT, local PACS System Administrators, and Biomedical Engineering in the installation planning and execution of IT and PACS related local projects. At the request of the Regional Administrator, responsible for collaborating or assisting the RO Systems Administrators of other facilities. May be responsible for training new RO Systems Administrators and to provide competency assessments and input on their evaluations.

Essential Functions:- Evaluates and implements RO systems initiatives and changing priorities including 1) minimal paper work environment, 2) systems integration of RO record&verify systems and KP scheduling and charting systems, and 3) activity and charge capture.- Implements system changes for local software and hardware upgrades as well as local and regional training for pertinent system changes for RO systems related issues.- Responsible for training (vendor and internal) for local physicians, technologists and other staff related to RO systems implementations.- Participates in regional planning and operations support processes.- Responsible for local system administration coursework in Varian applications (Aria, Eclipse), GE systems, and Advanced DICOM coursework for internal purposes.- Performs local audits, gathers statistics and prepares reports for management and quality improvement.- Responsible for the general understanding of KP-IT, EMR (Healthconnect), and PACS systems to troubleshoot and repair system problems in collaboration with KP-IT, PACS Administrators, and Biomedical Engineers.- Assists other RO Systems Administrators if needed to troubleshoot and subsequently repair hardware and software related problems or issues upon the request of the Regional Administrator.- Occasional travel is required between RO centers for onsite work. Required to provide vacation coverage for other RO centers.- Performs routine system maintenance on non-MWI workstations. Responsible for system backups and archiving of local RO specific systems.- Kaiser Permanente conducts compensation reviews of positions on a routine basis. Basic Qualifications:Experience- Minimum six (6) months of experience in conducting training, implementation and troubleshooting of radiation oncology or imaging informatics products (softward and hardware).- Minimum six (6) months of computer and information data systems experience required.Education- Associate's degree in business, organizational development, informatics or technology related fields OR two (2) years of experience in a directly related field required.- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.License, Certification, Registration- N/A Additional Requirements:- Strong information technology and computer skills required.- Strong verbal and written communication skills.- Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations that pertain to records retention, confidentiality and the release of medical records.- Knowledge of medical terminology required.- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:- Database management and acquisition/implementation experience preferred.- PACS Applications experience preferred.
