Kaiser Permanente Senior Manager, Strategy & Corporate Development in Oakland, California
The Permanente Federation LLC (the Federation) is the national leadership and consulting organization for the eight Permanente Medical Groups (PMGs), which, together with the Kaiser Foundation Health Plans and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, comprise Kaiser Permanente. The PMGs employ more than 22,000 physicians, approximately 90,000 nurses and other clinicians, and provide care to over 12 million Kaiser Permanente members. The Federation works on behalf of the PMGs to optimize care delivery and spread Permanente Medicine - medicine that it patient centered, evidence based, technology enabled, culturally responsive, team delivered, and physician led. The Federation, based in Oakland, California, fosters an open learning environment and accelerates research, innovation, and performance improvements across the PMGs to expand the reach of Kaiser Permanente-s integrated care delivery model and to lead the nation in transforming care delivery.
This position is responsible for supporting strategic planning especially in the development of Permanente strategies and providing corporate development support with a focus on assessing, developing, and influencing the care delivery strategy and transaction opportunities. The role will work both independently and in conjunction with colleagues and external parties, with an emphasis on existing and new third-party relationships that allow for greater Permanente Medical Group (PMG) delivered integrated care, either in existing or new markets. The Senior Manager will collaborate with internal clients on: a) The development of Permanente strategies, including but not limited to the organization/project management of specific topics, the facilitation of subject matter expert discussions, the development of strategic frameworks by topic and research. b) Assessing and developing existing and new third-party relationships that support the care delivery strategy and Kaiser Permanente-s objectives of improving quality of healthcare, increasing customer satisfaction, and improving financial performance in current and new markets.
Support the development of Permanente strategy in collaboration with PMG leaders including:
Supporting the development of Permanente-led strategies with PMG leaders.
Organize/project manage specific strategic topics including but not limited to overall approach, meeting planning, information/data gathering, analysis research, etc.
Provide facilitation and expert consultation on the assessment, design, and development of strategies by collaborating with PMG subject matter experts and leaders
Serve as trusted advisor to PMG leaders.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies pursued both in the near-term and long-term.
Support precedent-setting relationships by defining and framing complex issues and translating needs, issues/risks, and ideas into effective strategies and action plans.
Assess multi-faceted, sophisticated issues/risks and propose alternatives; foster collective problem solving.
Provide staff leadership and expert consultation on the assessment, design, and development of integrated care delivery with a focus on third party relationships.
Serve as a trusted advisor to KP vice presidents and assistant medical directors.
Lead internal teams of analysts, consultants, managers, and content experts.
Provide analytical and project management support for strategic relationships.
Synthesize key issues, findings, and recommendations in written and verbal communications customized for specific audiences/needs.
Manage and develop project plans, timelines, and coordination of internal and external teams.
Ensure that reports and information are accurate, timely, consistent, and that they satisfy senior management needs.
Facilitate steering committee discussions/presentations.
Serve as the business content expert to optimize the integration of care delivery that may involve non-traditional third-party provider relationships for KP by working with internal subject matter experts, researching key business issues, collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data, and developing business plans.
Actively search/research solutions in the marketplace to address organizational goals and strategic needs to improve quality, increase customer satisfaction, and improve financial performance.
Current on healthcare industry trends; research topics as needed.

Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in corporate business development, merger & acquisition/transactions, strategy, provider contracting, health care product management, or consulting.
Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in Healthcare required.
- Bachelor-s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Finance, Economics, or related field .
License, Certification, Registration
-Knowledge of provider contracting terms and common issues.
Ability to independently define, structure, and execute complex analytical exercises.
Possess solid problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to structure projects with uncertain (or yet to defined) outcomes.
Ability to manage ambiguity.
Ability to lead meetings comprised of multi-disciplinary teams
- MBA, MPH or other advanced degree preferred.
