Position Title Structural Design Engineer – Hydraulic Structures

The Water Infrastructure Team at AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented structural design engineer for immediate employment in the Oakland, CA office.
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a combination of the following responsibilities:
Support the Structural Dept. with the layout and design of hydraulic structures, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and other related structures. Experience with industry standards and requirements for hydraulic structures are required.
Perform structural analysis and design of hydraulic and water containing structures, facilities, and related structures. Build computer analysis models, interprets the analysis results, and implements them to design.
Prepare engineering related calculations, design plans.
Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices. As necessary, modifies established guidelines, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions from comparative situations.
Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
Perform condition assessments and site visits as needed.
Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
2+ years' experience
Knowledge of concrete and structural steel design
Experience in the design of hydraulic structures
Knowledge of computer analysis and design software such as SAP, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
The ability to work with, interpret, and apply national and local building, and hydraulic structures related codes
Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines
Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment
California PE License
Knowledge of modeling and linear, non-linear, static, and dynamic analysis of structures.
Proficient in CAD and REVIT.
Knowledge of SAP2000 or similar structural analysis software.
Experience with the design and detailing of equipment supports, pipe supports and performance specified systems including concrete and steel tanks.
