The Design and Consulting Services Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented, self-motivated and experienced Transportation Engineer for immediate employment in Oakland, CA.
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established education degree in Civil engineering with focused study on surface transportation, planning and design. The incumbent can look forward to supporting a wide range of planning and preliminary engineering projects for roadway, expressway, highway/freeway, transit systems, managed lanes, complete streets, bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
The successful candidate will serve as a task manager on various projects involving environmental impacts studies, feasibility studies, alternatives development, preliminary design, comprehensive transportation plans, public involvement, and the overall preparation of CEQA and NEPA compliance documents. The transportation engineer will be part of a team that includes planners, engineers, environmental scientists, landscape architects, and other support staff.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or appropriate discipline
5+ years of relevant experience in transportation planning and engineering for multimodal transportation projects
Registered Professional Engineer in California
Progressive design experience on Caltrans transportation projects
Proficiency with MicroStation
Proficiency with Inroads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs preferably MS Schedule
Experience with FHWA, State, and local transportation planning and environmental processes
Strong project management and supervisory skills
Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to discuss projects with co-workers, clients, regulatory agency staff, AECOM staff, and the public in meetings and at public events
Strong written communication skills and the ability to write concise and readable technical reports and documents
Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills
Must have a valid driver's license
