Job Summary

TheTraining and Curriculum Advisorshall advises on the creation and review of curriculum, assesses training and suggests improvements to training delivery methods.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assist in any projects involving training and education of police as determined by the Director, Police Institutional Advisory Team (PIAT).

  • Advise and mentor Training General Command (TGC), Afghan National Police Academy (ANPA) and Staff, and other associated Ministry of Interior (MoI) Afghan National Police (ANP) facilities on further enhancing self-sustainable system for the development of police training.

  • Conduct periodic assessments of training and suggest improvements.

  • Ensure all documents are translated into Dari and Pashtu.

  • Provide weekly activity reports to PIAT on the significant events of the week, progress on projects and milestones being worked towards mission accomplishment as well as offer suggestions to ensure the future self-sustainment of MoI/ANP logistics systems, programs and processes as well as engagement reports through NATO system.

  • Train, Advise and Assist in a manner that encourages the MoI/ANP to develop methods and systems to ensure the future self-sustainment of their logistics capacity without contractor support/advising.

  • Advise MoI/ANP on the value of regular curriculum reviews.

  • Maintain the ANP Training Library on the Afghan training database. These duties include but are not limited to:

o Data entry, maintenance, granting permissions and access to the ANP training library on the training database.

o Being the primary liaison for all inquiries related to the ANP Training Library.

o Granting permissions and access to approved personnel the ANP Training Library.

o Preparing and sorting the training documents, and identifying and determining the data to be entered, by creating folders for new courses along with appropriate numbering system and ensuring courses are placed under correct headings.

o Training Afghan counterparts in the duties related to the management and maintenance of the ANP Training Library.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Must demonstrate creative problem solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team equally well.

Experience & Education

  • Ten years of law enforcement experience.

  • Five years as a law enforcement trainer; prior mission experience may be counted but must be time spent directly in a training or curriculum development role.

  • Certification from a state or national agency as a law enforcement trainer.

  • Experience instructing at a state or national academy.

  • Must have a final (not interim) SECRET Level Security DoD Clearance before deployment and must maintain that clearance.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must pass all medical and fitness requirements directed by US Central Command (CENTCOM) in order to deploy

  • Must be able to operate in harsh and austere conditions of Afghanistan

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
